Spot brush is oblong, not round. It suddenly changed shape and I can't correct it. I have elements 2023 on Windows 10.  How do I get a round bursh again?

Go to Edit menu>Preferences>Display & Cursors. In the dialog that opens check "normal brush tip."

What finally worked was removing Elements from my pc and then reloading it.  I still had some problems so I rebooted by PC and it worked normally.  The program is buggy.  I'm sure it will need this done again as I have had to reload it more than once.

Have you tried changing the Brush in the Spot Healing tool options?  If that isn't working, try resetting the preferences file. Go to Edit>Preferences>General tab and click the Reset Preferences on next launch button.

I tried that and it didn't work.  I rebooted my PC and the problem corrected itself.  Thanks for your input.

Removing it could also remove any wonky brushes you may have installed-    many of the free brushes available can only be described as "wonky" and simply not very good.

Manually installing brushes in the wrong location could also muck things up, so could putting files that are not in the ABR format in the incorrect spot.

C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\20.0\Presets\Brushes is where I put silly brush files for PSE 2022.

If for 2023 :  C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\21.0\Presets\Brushes

Yes, I understand you said "Spot healing brush"-- it's always uses whatever brush you last had open- it's not always round.
