Transferring Photos from iPhoto

Question

I have been having major problems with Adobe Photoshop Elements because when I click import photos in Organizer, every photo stored on my Mac is duplicated, some are missing, new folders have been created, subfolders in those folders are created, new pictures have been put into new folders, its a whole mess and is impossible to navigate. I end up not being able to work because my photos never make it to Organizer and then to Editor! Is anyone else having this problem? Support through Adobe has been scarce and really non existent..

I am trying the trial software as an alternate to Photos app. Did you find an answer? I really loved iphotos and had lots of organized stuff there also ... (events, keywords, etc) Did you ever get any help or answers? Will I end up in the same mess?
