I use PSE 2023 - just changed my camera to a canon EOS R50 and am unable to look at the photos in RAW. Message tells me to "install the camera raw plug in from the Help menu". Have tried everything without success. RAW files open with no issues on Lightroom. Looks like I will abandon Photoshop Elements as an editing tool altogether unless someone offers a solution.
If you have the R50, it requires ACR 15.2. If you have the new R50V, it requires the latest ACR version 17.3. In either event, Elements 2023 only updates to ACR 14.4.
You can use a workaround to update Elements 2023 to ACR 17.3. You must follow the instructions precisely. Here are the instructions for Windows:

For Macs you must copy the file from:

I followed this advice and it worked perfectly for me (trying to process .ARW raw photos and XAVC S video files from a new Sony A6700 camera in PSE 23).

Hi, thanks for reaching out! As Greg mentioned, the Canon EOS R50 is supported by Camera Raw 15.2 and Lightroom 6.2 (Lightroom Classic 12.2). Please check: https://adobe.ly/4kk2hCT
Photoshop Elements 2023 only supports Camera Raw version 14.4 so the RAW files from the camera are not compatible with the application version. Please check: https://adobe.ly/3S12E9m
You can convert the images from the Canon EOS R50 to DNG files using the Adobe DNG converter and then open them in Photoshop Elements 2023. To use the Adobe DNG converter, you can check out the details here: https://adobe.ly/4daQDHW
Hope this helps!
Thanks,
Nikunj
