When installing Photoshop Elements 12 on Windows 10 the program says that DirectX/ Direct play could not be initialized. What to do?

    Hi görane,

    Thanks for posting in Adobe forum.

    I understand you are facing issue with installation of Adobe Photoshop Elements 12.

    Can we follow the following steps:

    - Click "Start Button"

    - Type "Turn Windows Feature On & Off"

    - Open it

    - Check for "Legacy Components"

    - Click the + sign

    - Check "Direct Play"

    - Click "Ok"

    - Check Adobe Elements

    Yes, this worked.

    The Organizer is working fine now!

    You need to enable the Legcy Direct Play as explained here:

    Phtoshop Elements 12 can not find "DirectX/directPlay"

    That is a Microsoft product... AND your version may not be compatible with Windows 10

    Search http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/default.aspx for ALL Windows help with direct X

    Two ideas that MAY work to install and/or run old programs in Windows 10

    -RIGHT click the program icon or EXE and select a compatibility mode in the pop up option window

    -or Run as Administrator http://forums.adobe.com/thread/969395 to assign FULL Windows permissions may help... says Encore, but sometimes required for ALL Adobe programs (this is NOT the same as using an Administrator account)
