Hello,
I´m Nic, writing from Germany.
I recently "upgraded" from PS elements from 2011 to 2019. Wow... What a journey 🙂 Since we have a daughter everything gots priority -1 🙂
So now its time to "organize" my pictures a bit. We're running apple products but I've decided to not use the PHOTOS app (with or without iCloud) because it is not respecting my file structure. Yes this is maybe "old world" thinking but I had some issues with a very large PHOTOS library 10 years ago and it took me a lot of work to export them back to "folder structure" I want to keep this way of saving files. Currently we're storing them on a Synology NAS which syncs them also with backup tools etc... For me the "best practice" right now. Double/triple copied, backed up in a cloud and on different HDDs.
To my question:
I tested the organizer for a short time today. And there are some nice features in it. The Synology NAS does not provide a "good" face recognition or sorting by "content"
If I decide to do this, will the organizer anyhow "change" my files in background without asking me?
I´m a bit picky with my originals... After 25 years of doing PC stuff...... nothing lasts forever. No tool, no iCloud, no Adobe Organizer.... I don't want to change / restore 25.000 picture files in 5 years (again)... Maybe I will not have the original files then any more (after doing time machine backup... after 5 years you will never have the chance to go back)
Currently I'm syncing with my NAS so each change on my Mac will be synced in a second and will overwrite the backup etc etc...
So if I choose 50 files and ask the tool to change the size, yes that's ok. But will it anyhow add meta data like face-names or so without asking?
Greetings from Germany
Nic

The short answer is yes, the metadata e.g. name tags from facial recognition will be written, without asking, whenever you edit and save the file. However, it can be deleted.

Thanks Greg!
So.... do you see any risk of letting Adobe Organizer do this? Ok, this will probably push my NAS to re-sync all files but this only a timing issue....

You do have the option to switch off Face Recognition in:
Preferences >> Media-Analysis
