This is sometimes caused by a component of free anti-virus or ad-aware software which may have been installed when bundled with another product update or browser add-on. Look for errors in the crash log by going to event viewer.

https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements-editor/using/find-crashlogs.html

You may see something like:

Faulting module: LavasofTcpService64.dll

If so, remove the Lavasoft program and try launching Elements again. It may be listed as Web Companion.

  • -Go to the Windows Control

Thanks for the assistance but I have decided to remain with elements 14 for now and have been given a refund and a great service from Adobe.

Wish I could find how to get a refund.  I hate it when you can't actually speak to anyone

Photoshop Elements 7 failed so I upgraded to v.15 ... which would not launch. Tried all the suggestions (uninstall, re-install etc.) but nothing worked. Finally checked the crash log, Lavasoft was listed but not showing in the program listing so I was unable to uninstall it the regular way.

But ... found an empty Lavasoft folder and deleted it, also 2 Lavasoft files. I renamed the 2 files and tried Photoshop again ... took a while to build various libraries etc., but after that runs fine.

The two files were in System (C:)/Windows/System 32;

          LavasoftTcpService64.dll

          LavasoftTcpService.Off.ini

Both were dated Aug 2015.
