Question

Horizontal lines on imported photos

I just upgraded to Photoshop Elements 2018. I have several photos I just copied from my iphone to a folder. I then imported them into Elements. A couple of the photos have a dark horizontal line across the photo about 20% up from the bottom. One has a light horizontal line about 20% from the top. I have duplicated this copying and importig several times, and Elements consistently adds the horizontal line. Needless to say, this is not acceptable. I don't see anything I can do to prevent this, either. Ideas for solution?

Anybody found a solution to this problem?!

It just happened all of a sudden that photos I open in Photoshop on my ultra high resolution notebook screen get these horizontal lines over the photos. Regardless of which photo I open... "old or new"....

I did not touch Windows 8.1 nor Photoshop ie. no updates were performed.

Strangely enough... Camera RAW works without problems ie. there are no horizontal lines visible!

    Would appreciate any advice.

    Thank you!

I have a similar issue where there are multiple horizontal lines going through all of the layers in Photoshop. Also having issues with Illustrator forming gaps of shapes in layers when working in it. This stuff makes it extremely difficult to work on projects for classes. Im on a Mac btw.

Happens to me as well. I use PSE2018 extensively and have now found over two dozen bugs. This particular one is intermittent, and the unusual thing is when you open the same photo in the editor, the line is not there!

If you do anything in editor and re save the file, the line disappears. Appears to be a bug in the organizer jpg decoder

Apparently there is no solution forthcoming from Adobe. There has been no useful response on this for over a week.

    Hi,

Please accept our sincere apologies for this delay in response.

Request you to please confirm if you are on WIN 10. If so, then I request you to please install any pending OS updates. Post this, try re-importing the same image in Organizer, it should be rectified.

Please let me know about your findings.

    Thanks.

Same file for me when opened in editor does not have the line. Therefore the organizer jpg decoder is the likely culprit. Probably nothing to do with the OS, as I am on 8.1 FULLY UP TO DATE.

Yes, the line prints on the image.

The view-expert menu you are referring to presumably refers to viewing in the editor. The line is still present in the editor. I can't unclick the guides option. It is greyed out. But the line is not a guide line. It looks like the pixels got smeared horizontally. The color changes from black to dark purple to dark maroon, and is several pixels high. Here's a clip of the line going across the photo:

It appears some glitch in Elements. Some other photos have light lines instead of dark lines.

    I don't have PSE 2018.

However, have a look under the View Menu on the expert tab. Do you have the horizontal guide turned on?

Also, with your current configuration, does this line print?
