Question

Adobe Photoshop and CEPHtmlEngine Not Responding

Photoshop 2020 is constantly freezing for me. Even moving or transforming an object periodically causes Photoshop to freeze, the beachball of death appears and I can see in my Activity Monitor that Photoshop is not responding. Every time, the CEPHtmlEngine process is also not responding. I have to wait a couple of minutes for it to restore. This is seriously slowing down my workflow and extremely frustrating. Suggestions anyone?

Hi there,

Sorry that Photoshop is running unexpectedly slower on your computer as the CEPHtmlEngine in the Activity monitor is not responding and also freezing the application.

Which exact version of Photoshop 2020 are you using and what is the macOS version on your computer?

To troubleshoot, you the freeze caused by the CEPHtmlEngine, please checkout the steps mentioned in this article https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/high_cpu_usage_cephtmlengine.html and let us know if that helps?

Thanks,

Akash

Hello,

I also have this problem and can't run Photoshop cc2020 without CEPHtmlEngine problems. I looked at the link you mentioned but it seems to be for the 2015 version and I can't find the pathway and I can't see the 'CEP' folder in the 'Required' folder in step 2 of your 'solution'

  • Move the content from the folder listed below to somewhere else as a backup (in a folder on your Desktop for example). See the path below for the folder location by product.
  • Photoshop: /Applications/Adobe Photoshop CC 2015/Adobe Photoshop CC 2015.app/Contents/Required/CEP/extensions/com.adobe.DesignLibraryPanel.html/

Thanks - this is so frustrating and really slowing work down.
