Auto blend layers is very slow

Hi davescm, sorry about the slow reply but it has been overnight in Australia. I've been trying to stack 12 JPEGS 4912 X 7360. Such a stack normally took photoshop about 2 minutes to process. This has now blown out to 4 hours or so. When I have tried a stack of 16, it normally takes three or four minutes and it has blown out to six or seven hours. I have also noticed that auto align has slowed down but it isnt as big an issue as auto-blend.
