Guys, when you install Google Nik Collection, you need manually indicate the folder

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CC

or copy/paste Google folder from the previous to the new directory

For others plug-ins, like Filter Forge 6 and Nuclear Light plug-ins, there are no problems

You may check

Hope it helps

Okay. I've been troubleshooting this issue for over a year, ever since the CC 2015.5 release. I've had multiple, lengthy calls and chats with support to no avail. One tech support person finally said to me in exasperation, "It's not our fault the Nik plugin isn't compatible. There's nothing we can do until they update it" which in retrospect now is clearly wrong.

Today I spent over two hours during 3 phone calls with support, including the final one with an expert level guy who was also at the end of his rope. He had uninstalled Nik and PS CC 2017 and reinstalled both multiple times without success. The plugins were in the plugin folder and PS simply failed to recognize them. Finally he said, "I'm going to put you on hold a few minutes" clearly going to someone else for more advice.

When he returned he did something no one had done previously. Instead of placing the plugins into the plugin folder under Adobe Photoshop CC 2017 in the User > Applications > Adobe > Photoshop CC 2017, he went to a plugins folder in the root level library on the hard drive, inside the Application Support folder. I've attached a screenshot showing the exact file path.

Once he pasted plugins to this location, everything instantly worked. His explanation was that the location for plugins changed in the newer versions of Photoshop and the Nik installer had not been updated to reflect this. It could install into the usual folder under User > Applictions, but the program wouldn't recognize or address plugins installed there.

Finally, after more than a year I can use the latest version of Photoshop and have access to all my previous plugins. I hope this helps many others who have been similarly frustrated. The nagging questions in my mind are (a) how is it that every Adobe tech support person doesn't know this solution and (b) how could it possibly have taken this long for the answer to come to the surface?

First off, good work chasing this down.

The answer is Adobe Support techs have enough to do with Adobe products. Perhaps this tech will pass it on, but it's not up to Adobe support to debug other companies' products and perhaps get blasted at for unintended consequences.

You're lucky to catch someone who doesn't mind, but most will tell you "I can't fix NIK's products. It's not my bailiwick". And that's a valid answer.

Hi, the "new" version was installed in a different folder named "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2017" where the previous was "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2015.5".

The "Plug-ins" sub-dir is not copied so you have to do it manually

You can, but no guarantee it will work for CC 2017. You may want to hold on to CC 2015.5 until then.
