Duplicated layers in 3d rendering

Hello all,

I am trying to render a 3D file that I created in PS version 22.1.1.

Every time the rendering starts, I see that duplicates of the underlying layer are created. These are still there when the rendering is complete. I have tried disabling various layers and changing the settings of the materials, but nothing has helped.

I have tried to find someone who has the exact same problem, but so far I have only found other threads that do not help with solving my problem.

I have uploaded the .tif file if anyone is willing to take a closer look at the problem: https://we.tl/t-TsdcaKH26Y

Thanks in advance for your help!

It is a bug. To work around it use menu  3D > Generate UVs then re-render

Can you give us your OS and a screen shot that shows the Layers and 3D panels?

Thanks for your help Dave! I was hoping to be able to easily replace the print screens in my 3d object. At least I'm able to render it now :-)!

Hi @davescm,

I tried to continue working on my file today, but the 3D options are suddenly greyed out and I can no longer edit 3D objects. Do you know anything about this problem?

I can't tell from the screenshot. Has your GPU crashed? Check in Preferences >Performance and in Preferences 3D

you could do this same rendor in Adobe Dimension which will be faster and allow you to swap screen images in and out

Photoshop has better lighting controls but you are only really using a single light here so imo Dimension is the better tool for the job

Hi @Ussnorway,

Thank you again for your great tip. It is so much easier to render my visualizations in Adobe Dimension. I'm super happy now :-)!

Hi @Ussnorway,

I have an issue in Adobe Dimension with adding images to my 3d models. For the smartphone it works but only if I select the placement option "fill". When I use "decal" the image does have weird stripes.

On my 3d model for the desktop version the added printscreen does not appear at all. The surface just stays black. Do you see what I'm doing wrong?

sorry I missed this question until now

this looks like a UV error and there are some quick tips but if these don't work then please share the file with me and I'll take a closer look

  • remove the current decal first - hold option \ alt key + drag to make a new copy of the model part... then tell Dimension to make a new UV map for that part and test if that fixes your issue

Screenshot (83).png

  • more advanced edits can be made with the magic wand, give this new selection a different material and Dimension will auto generate a new UV for it... think of it as colouring inside the lines šŸ˜‰
