Healing Brush and Clone Stamp unuseable in PS CC 2018 with Wacom Tablet

I recently bought a Dell XPS 15, with windows 10, because I heard how fast it was for video editing. I also use my computers for photo editing using PS CC. I downloaded the latest version of PS CC and discovered that the healing brush, clone stamp tool and spot healing are acting wonky.  What I expect is the performance I'm currently getting from my windows 7 desktop machine, which is when I want to select an area to clone/heal from I hold the alt key and tap the pen on the tablet to set the point. I then start painting over the area I want to fix with the pen and it fixes it immediately. I then select another point to clone from and it immediately accepts the point and I start painting. I do this over and over without getting any messages or any additional screens popping up or and hesitation.

What happens when I attempt to do this with the new machine is that when I press the alt key while I hover the pen over the tablet a small white box with alt pops up. This is the first sign that there is going to be trouble. This has happened with my windows 7 machine but closing and reopening PS fixed this issue. So the alt box pops up and I tap the pen to the tablet to select the area I want to clone/heal from. When I go to paint a little white circle loads where I have the pen touching the tablet and then a box pops up where I can adjust aspects of the tool such as size hardness, etc. Instead of this sometimes a red circle appears where I am touching the pen to the tablet and a box pops up that gives information about the tool such as size, hardness, etc. What also may happen is that if I eventually am able to set a point and start painting the brush acts like the move tool and starts moving the image around. It behaves this way regardless of the Wacom tablet that I'm using. I have an Intuos 5 Touch and the latest Wacom Intuos tablet. All drivers are up to date. It also behaves this way when using earlier versions of PS CC. I downloaded 2015 and it makes no difference. I've read all kinds of things on the forums and elsewhere about similar issues. I did everything that I could and still no change. PS CC is unusable on the new super fast windows 10 machine.

I'm so disgusted with this that I'm thinking of loading PS CS6 onto this machine but I'll have to purchase and external disc drive to do so. I hate windows 10 with a passion and every time some pop-up window comes up telling me that I'm out of space in One Drive I want to pick up the machine and bash it on the ground. I'm dead in the water here. Any suggestions?

Hi

There is an issue with a recent Windows 10 update

Try either one of these to see if it helps

1. Use notepad to create a text file and type in :

# Use WinTab

UseSystemStylus 0

2. Save the file as PSUserConfig.txt in the following location

C: > Users > Username > AppData > Roaming > Adobe > Adobe Photoshop CC 2018 > Adobe Photoshop CC 2018 Settings

3. Go to the Wacom tablet properties and for Photoshop under Mapping  uncheck "Use Windows Ink"

3. Go to the Wacom tablet properties and for Photoshop under Mapping  uncheck "Use Windows Ink"

Or

1 Select everything inside the quotes here (don't include the quotes): “reg add HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Pen /v LegacyPenInteractionModel /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f”

2 Copy it with Ctrl + C on the keyboard.

3 Type Windows Key + X (together), a menu will appear

4 Then type "A" on the keyboard. That will give you an elevated administrator PowerShell command prompt.

5 Paste the command you copied into that window with Ctrl + V

6 Hit "Enter" on the keyboard

7 Reboot

If you try the first option you may need to enable hidden items in file explorer

Hi,

Thanks for the response. I tried the 2nd option you provided and nothing happened. I'm still new with windows 10 but I'll try the 1'st option again. I did, however, download CS6 and it works fine except that all of the icons are so small it's giving me eye strain.

For the CS6 looking tiny, try right clicking on the shortcut and select these options

Thank you so much for this information. I purchased my tablet right after I purchased my Dell XPS computer and have been unable to use it for almost two years. I have gone back to Best Buy, called Wacom, and Adobe. No one has been able to help. I just tried your 1st option and it works perfectly.. thank you so, so, so much!!!!
