How to export 24bit 96dpi png in photoshop?

I've been trying to export 24bit 96dpi png in Photoshop by using 'save for web tool'. However, after exporting png and checking the details it shows up as 72dpi instead of 96 dpi..

How can I export this kind of png?

Don't use save for web.

Don't use Export, use Save As and select PNG from the drop-down Format menu.

By using 'save as' I managed to keep dpi to 96, however, how do I change my png to 24bit now? The only options Photoshop offers are 8,16 and 32..

Your image is RGB at 24bits (8 bits per channel), for more information check Image > Mode where they will be indicated.

Save For Web and Export strip the resolution metadata (ppi) altogether. The exported file does not have a ppi at all.  The 72 or 96 or whatever figure appears when the file is reopened into another application. Some have 72 as default, some 96.

You can assign whatever ppi you want post-export - it doesn't alter the file as long as you don't resample.

And of course none of this matters in the slightest if the file is intended for screen viewing only. Ppi is a strictly a print parameter.
