Twain support (the ability to scan from within PS) has been abandoned in CC.

If you do a forum search for "twain photoshop cc" you may find some workarounds.

Use the TWAIN scanner plug-in (link to article added by moderator)

However, the easiest solution is to use the standalone scanning software that came with your scanner, save the scans to disk, and open them in PS.

This workflow also enables you to keep working in PS while scanning.

A good third-party solution is Vuescan, which supports most scanners.

Hi,

It is a pain that Photoshop no-longer has the ability to import from a scanner . It every now and again I scour the web for a solution - and each time.. no refined soloution. So my solution is to keep a version of Psd CS5.1 (32bit) installed - it does what I need. For most tasks, it will get the job done equally as good as the later versions - using less CPU & RAM.

Next time they ask for feedback - I'm putting 'Scanning Plug-in' !

All the best
Jim

I find Vuescan very good (and simple to use).

For what it's worth, I can connect to my scanner from Photoshop CC 2014 under File>Import>WIA Support.

Yes, I also use Import>WIA Support and it works perfectly.
