I want to buy photoshop, but I don't want to pay for creative cloud every month/year, so is there a way that I can purchase photoshop and pay 1 flat fee?

Hi Otaks

Just for info, some info in this post is now time expired. Adobe stopped selling the CS6 perpetual license version and a CC subscription( Photography plan, Single App or full CC) is now the only way to buy.

This thread is 6 years out of date.  It's now 2020. Creative Suite is no longer legally sold by any vendor, retailer or country.

MODERN OPTIONS:
Photoshop Elements 2020 (approx $100, no subscription needed)
https://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-elements.html

Creative Cloud Photography Plan (approx $10/month for 1 year subscription)
https://www.adobe.com/creativecloud/photography.html

Creative Cloud All Apps Plan (31 + apps & services)
https://www.adobe.com/creativecloud/plans.html

Beware of fake Adobe reps who may contact you privately offering to sell you software or take control of your computer. It's a scam, run away!

Creative Suite is discontinued, no longer sold or supported.

Creative Cloud is totally separate software. Yes you must subscribe to use it.

Please ensure your computer meets or exceeds the minimum system requirements to run Creative Cloud Desktop App + all other apps you intend to use.  Min-requirements vary by product.

It's almost 2019 and I'm still using CS6. Back in 2013 I've paid about 400€ and so far it's still working like a charm, so I don't think I'll ever join the subscription-model for my professional work. The alternatives are growing and very close to what Photoshop offers, so as soon as MacOS tells me "CS6 no more" I'll get another software. Adobe lost me as their customer, who has been working with Photoshop since 1995. Just saying...

It so your creative choice. All of the important software went to a subscription modual. Did you check Microsoft lately? Same idea. No reason to get upset.

Adobe is the leading professional software for creative new changes are part of the creative work.

creative cloud is amazing!

you can share and explore with your peers and get to work in more creative environment.   The cost is less than 2-3 lunches a month... remember when banks started with ATM and people were upset to have to talk to a wall instead of a banker? Same here.

Have an amazing 2019! Hope you join the creatives!

If you only use the basic features maybe Photoshop Elements will fit the bill.

If they are genuine of course. And not full of malware. CS2 and CS3 can no longer be activated, so not much of a bargain. And of course you need to run an out of date system.

Malware?  These are unopened unregistered retail editions that I'm referring to on ebay!  Lol, I guess windows 7 is out of date to you!  I do motion graphics and 3D animation and that's the only OS all my software runs on!  Cs2 and Cs3 run just fine on windows 7, not being able to activate them is news to me.

That is only assuming that they are not counterfeit.

Can you tellme what programmes are best for cmyk from RgB as printers now expect me to use cmyk and does cs3 or photoshop elements 2013 do cmyk as cant find the conversion

I think you will find if you shop around that commercial printers will take RGB files now and do the pre-press work for you. They will of course charge for that, but it avoids a lot of problems with needing to know the type of press they are using and the paper type they will print on. Your problem will be getting your on screen image to look acceptable when printed. Photoshop Elements does not have a capability to convert to CMYK , you need Photoshop CS6 or CC for that and this means your on screen preview in Elements is likely to look very different when printed. You could try printing to an ink jet printer as that does an on the fly conversion to CMYK, but really you should ask your printer to make a high quality proof before committing to an expensive print run.

Ah i did wonder oh sugar thats not good for me but yes some printing firms take RGB and others only CMYK it's quite annoying but needs must. Also does anyone know of any programs that will do gold metallic look on fonts or i can do many kinds of fonts for logos etc

Well,

I have Master Collection CS5 and CC2017.  Sorry, I would feel naked without my perpetual CS5 license and I'm planning to upgrade it to CS6 very soon while I still can.  I like the whole idea of not waiting for a major update and putting a couple of grand on the table, but it didn't bother me either.  I purchased CS3, skipped CS4, then purchased CS5 Master Collection as soon as it was released.  So the argument for the subscription and how it is such a deal, probably doesn't apply to myself or many Master Collection users, because we were only upgrading every other release.  Lets say your paying $450 a year for CC, as a comparison from CS4 to CS6 was 5 years 2008 to 2013.  You would have paid over $2250 for those 5 years on a CC subscription, and I don't believe upgrading from CS4 Master Collection to CS6 Master Collection would have cost that much, I could be wrong!  I'm not saying their aren't any earthshattering cool features in CC, the fact is we would have still gotten them via subscription.  Personally, the biggest difference I see is the addition of free plugins in CC, that we had to purchase before.

I think the reality that gets lost in all of this is 80% of the people/clients I meet and or do work for are still using CS3.  Now that's an interesting question, how big is the actual CS3 install base.  It must be quite large because every bookstore you go into, all the adobe help titles are for CS3!

For clarity, you cannot buy an upgrade from CS5 to CS6. Adobe stopped selling CS6 in January 2017.

Whilst you hold a CC subscription your licence does currently enable you to download and use all versions from CS6 to CC2017.1.1 (current)

I found sellers on eBay still selling their license key for perpetual license model for CS6.  I have qualified the seller as reputable and not a sell-and-ditch account.

If Adobe does not currently sell/support CS6 for osx, is it possible this is just an X employee leaking company serial keys or some crafty hacker with keygen?  If I purchase the serial key, can I verify it with someone at Adobe to make sure this will continue working for me into the next decade?

eBay has never been an authorised agent for Adobe software and is a high risk place to buy. This is a case of you pay your money and take your chance if you proceed-Adobe will not help with this. You won't get a serial number until you purchase and will know if the serial is blacklisted straight away as the software will not install. If it has been generated by a keygen the software may install , but the new validation service will eventually work out it is a counterfeit and will start popping up an annoying warning every few minutes-unfortunately as that might take a couple of months you will not be able to get your money back from the supplier. If you ever try to reinstall you will then find the serial gets rejected. You are also locking yourself into a particular operating system. For a time CS6 was not expected to work on Sierra -Adobe never even tested it formally on that OS. You therefore have no guarantee CS6 will run on future versions of OSX and as there is no development work undertaken with CS6 that will not change.
