No pen pressure in Photoshop cc 2018

So, recently, my pen pressure hasn't been working at all.

It worked after I followed the steps in this https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2398372

Which included enabling WinTab, but now, it doesn't work.

I've tried turning on and off Windows Ink and restarting my laptop in between, but it isn't working.

Does anybody know a fix for this problem?

I have the most recent update as of 19th May 2018.

I had the same issue.

My Fix:

Installed windows updates to newest version

Wacom Tablet properties:

Options button at bottom of window

Make sure Pressure compatibility is checked hit ok

Calibrate tab

Make sure use windows ink is checked

After i did this my pen pressure worked.

Also I must note this started happening after I got a new computer and installed 2019 from the CC. My computer was clean straight out of the box with this issue.

I hope this helped.

I have the same issue, but for MacOS. Just got a Cintiq Pro and Photoshop and my OS is up to date. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If the tablet works and is using Windows 10 INK and Photoshop is using INK Pressure  should work in Photoshop and that triangle should go away. Try resetting  you Photoshop preferences.  If pressure still does not work try adding a new users id on you system see if Photoshop works with the users ID with default PS preferences and tablet preferences it should work if you tablet is using Windows INK.

I'm a Windows User System device support is different on a Mac.  Pen support would be different  and on a mac and may not be the same in all version of Apple OS versions .OSx, heigh Serria, Mojave etc.  I know little about a Apple centric environments.  The last Mac I used ran Apple OS9  Apple abandoned developing their own OS when Steve switch Apple to use intel processors He had Apple switch front their OS design to a Unix design OS.  There have been many flavors of Unix around for years BSD AIX RedHat etc. these days most Unix systems are using a Linux kernel The word  "Linux' is replacing the word "Unix" in the computer world.  There is still a lot of code from all the flavors around.   Android OS kernel is a Linux kernel one can argue that Linux is the most popular OS you can not ignore tablets, phones and other low power devices,  Unix was designed to be portable  for low power machines from the beginning and pioneered some very useful computing concepts.   So Linux(Unix) you can say rules the mobile world and the server work.  It does not rule the Mainframe and desktop worlds.  In the Big picture  Desktop and Mainframe are a speck.   Howver not a cheap speck. I am having the same problem: my tablet is a Monoprice. The tablet itself is recognizing pressure sensitivity and it works in other programs on my computer, but not in Photoshop.

These are the driver details for my tablet.

I tried the PlainText fix, but it seems to only work for Wacom. Removed it, no difference. Updated my drivers, no change. Uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe on my computer. As far as I can tell, Windows Ink is enabled. I can't use the Wacom Tablet Properties because I'm using a different product.

I haven't had pressure sensitivity for months, and am desperate for a solution.

on Google I sey this it may help yoy

Win10 + Adobe CC + Monoprice Tablet Pressure (FIX) by prettypinkey2 on DeviantArt

You did not state which version of Photoshop you are using. Old  windows Perpetual version of Photoshop only support Pen via Wintab API(s).  On windows Tablets these days need to be configured to use WinTab  interface not use their default Windows INK interface for old Photoshop versions.   If you use newer CC versions of Photoshop you do not need to configure you tablet let it use Windows Ink.

If you have both new and Old versions of Photoshop installed.  You need to configure your Tablet not to use Windows INK interface with Photoshop and you need to do the same for newer CC versions of Photoshop by adding the PSUserConfig.txt for User ID  Photoshop  Preferences for each CC version installed.  I have CS6, CC 2014 and CC 2018 installed. All work with my Wacom configured not to use Windows INK for Photoshop.  My Wacom Tablet is configured to use Windows INK for all other applications.

If after you try to use you pen with a Photoshop brush if brush setting for Shape Dynamics Pen Pressure still shows a warning triangle Photoshop is not seeing you have a pen  check all your configuration settings.

If you have CC 2018 use windows INK  delete all PSUserConfig.TXT you added to any users ID Photoshop preferences.

If you have an old Photoshop version and your Tablet can not be configured to use WinTab API interface with Photoshop you would need to subscribe and use a CC Photoshop version or buy a different tablet the can be configured to use wintab with Photoshop

I was having the exact same issue with my 2010 Wacom bamboo tablet and Photoshop CC 2018. I did this and it solved the problem:

> Go to File Explorer

> Go to File

> Click Change folder and search options

> Halfway down, click "show hidden folders"

Then find this file folder: C:\Users\[YourUsername]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC2015\Adobe Photoshop CC2018 Settings

Create a plain text file (must be in TXT format) in notepad containing this text:

# Use WinTab

UseSystemStylus 0

Title the file: PSUserConfig

Place the plain txt file into the Adobe Photoshop CC2018 Settings folder. Reopen photoshop. It worked like a charm for me!

Go to this directory

C:\Users\[your username here]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2018\Adobe Photoshop CC 2018 Settings

Create this file

PSUserConfig.txt

And put these two lines in it

# Use WinTab

UseSystemStylus 0

New version of Photoshop support pen via INK  API by default but can be configured  to use WinTab api like  old versions of Photoshop only uses.  Some Pens like Microsoft Surface Pens and  Wacom Bamboo Ink Pen only support Windows INK API.  Microsoft makes a Device driver that will use WinTab API for Pen support.  So you need to know  what is going on. Some pen may need a device driver to be installed to be able to use Wintab API and old Photoshop versions.

My Wacom  Intuos Pro Pen Preferences uses Windows INK API for all Applications other than Photoshop.  Photoshop is supported via Wintab API by unchecking use Windows Ink.   I add the PSUserConfig.txt the new CC version of Photoshop preferences so Adobe will use WinTabl for Photoshop CC old Photoshop version Preferences do not need that file they only use Wintab API for pen support.

My Wacom tablet doesn't have a "Use Windows Ink" checkbox. The tablet works perfectly fine in other programs, even my old Photoshop CS2. But not my brand new Photoshop CC 2018! I just tried the txt file and it's had no affect.

What model Laptop what model tablet or Pen.   Does the pen device driver support WinTab API?  For example Microsoft Surface Pen support windows INK API.  If you want to use WinTab ALI with a surface Pen you need to download a different driver from  Microsoft  for the surface pen that supports WinTab API.   Wacom Intuos  tablets supports both Windows Ink and Wintab APIs you can configure the tablet to use Windows INK for all applications the do not have  a wacom profile and create a Photoshop Wacom profile and use WinTab API not use INK API.    Wacom Bamboo Pen is like a Surface Pen uses INK API.

Some Microsoft updates caused Problems using INK API with application like Photoshop.  These Problems have been fixed if your Windows 10 system is Up to date.  Remove the PSUserConfig.txt from your Photoshop preferences folder and Set Wacom  Photoshop to use Windows INK with Photoshop
