Am I correct in understanding that there is no way to open Fuji RAW files (.RAF) in CS6? Is it true that I must pay Adobe more money to be able to edit these files in either Photoshop or Camera Raw? It appears that one needs Camera Raw v9.10, but that the highest version available for CS6 is v9.1. So I can no longer use CS6 and am forced to upgrade (which I simply cannot afford).
Thanks in advance.

If you buy new hardware you can expect to somehow finance the work of the people who have to change their software to work with it. Or will you rework photos for clients forever for free?

I have no clients. I am a retired enthusiast on fixed income. I expect nothing but thoughtful answers to my question.

Ok... here is some more advice you may not welcome, but may want to think about. Software, computers and hardware were made to work together at a particular time. If you choose not to upgrade part of that (or can't) you can end up with things out of step. CS6 is excellent software, on the computer generations it was made for, with the system at the time, and with the hardware of the day. Apparently unconnected purchases (like a new monitor) can leave you unable to use your new software. So my tip is, if you want to run old apps, freeze your computers, and stay off the internet (because you won't be protected from new threats). If you have to replace your computer you may need to get a used system of the right vintage. And don't, whatever you do, get Windows 10 because Microsoft have said it will keep changing, like a wild merry go round we can't get off.

I was a software engineer (architect, designer, and implementer) for 30 years. I understand that software and hardware changes. And I understand that those who produce software need to be paid. And I do not begrudge them.
All I wanted were suggestions as to how to process RAF files in the software I had already paid for. I thank those who gave me such suggestions. And I thank Adobe for contacting me via email.
I am currently experimenting with the DNG Converter. It would help if someone could tell me if this is a lossless conversion. Thanks.

I'm glad you are aware of these issues. I mentioned them because every day we hear from people who are suffering from unwise upgrades to systems or hardware. I believe a DNG is an exact conversion of a raw file.

I bought a cresent wrench 50 years ago. It worked on 50 year old bolts and it still works on bolts I buy today.
