Photoshop Camera RAW support for Nikon D500

Guest

Photoshop isn't recognizing the RAW files from my new Nikon D500 and it doesn't look like Adobe is supporting this file format yet.  Is that correct?  If not how do I update?

Photoshop 12.1 cannot be updated beyond camera raw 6.7, Refer Camera Raw plug-in and Adobe application compatibility

You must upgrade to Photoshop CC or use DNG converter to convert your raw images from Nikon D500 to native DNG format. See Adobe Digital Negative Converter 9.x

Hi dranoel,

Which version of Photoshop are you using? Nikon D500 requires camera raw plugin 9.5.Please ensure that you are using the latest version of camera raw as per the version of Photoshop you are using. Refer Keeping Photoshop Up-To-Date

I have PS 12.1 x64.  I downloaded and installed 9.5.1 but it still doesn't work.  I see that there is now a v9.8 which I will try next.

You've downloaded but it didn't install because it's not compatible with 12.1.

In Photoshop, click Help (Win) or Photoshop (Mac) > About Plug-Ins > Camera Raw

It probably says 6.7 which is the latest version which is compatible with your version of Photoshop.

Thanks.  I've downloaded Adobe Digital Negative Converter 9.x  which is an acceptable work-around.
