Photoshop CC 2019 crash upon launch Windows 10 Nvidia GPU Error

Photoshop CC (cloud) has been working fine for months on this HP Z820 Windows 10 workstation with three Nvidia 1080ti GPUs. All of a sudden, BAM, I get a "Photoshop has crashed....blah... GPU driver" and PSD turns off the GPU acceleration on relaunch. Photoshop does work in limp mode with the GPU acceleration turned off.

Windows 10 is up to date. I updated Photoshop Cloud, problem persists. I updated Nivida driver and problem persists. I rolled back Nvidia driver and problem persists. I ran Cinema4D and rendered a file with no issues, all three GPUs render fine. I rendered a Daz Studio file with no issues. Checked the GPUs in Device Manager, no visible issues.

I welcome any feedback on how I can begin to restore function. Again, this workstation has run Photoshop perfectly for months with no issues till now.

Hi there,

Sorry to learn about Photoshop crashing at launch, that's what definitely shouldn't be happening.

Could you please check if there is an update available for the GPU drivers on Nvidia's website?

Also, please have a look at this article and see if it helps: Troubleshoot Photoshop graphics processor (GPU) and graphics driver issues

If the suggestions above doesn't help, then please go to Photoshop's Preferences > Performance > Advanced Settings and uncheck Use OpenCL/GL, and relaunch Photoshop. You may also try changing the Drawing Mode to Basic.

Thank you for the prompt reply. Yes, turning off GPU acceleration Photoshop launches and works, albeit poorly. Leaving GPU acceleration on and unchecking OpenCL appears to work as well.

I have submitted a bug report to Nvidia user forum.

Again, Photoshop CC worked fine moments before the Geforce Experience 430.49 update. Other programs relying on the 1080 Ti GPU and OpenCL, (three tested) render perfectly and do not crash. The problem has been isolated to Adobe Photoshop, currently.

Curiously, manually uninstalling Nivida driver 430 and clean installing the previous driver version, 425, did not remedy the launch crash and error message.

Have you tried changing Photoshop Advance GPU Settings like not enabling openCL

When did it start happening? It look like like you have a new device driver that is only 8 Days old installed 2019 04 17.

I do not see one with that date on Nvidia site ? However the 430.39 release date is listed as 4/23/2019

Which old drivers have you tested there seems to be many old drivers. Perhaps Nvidia is trying to iron out bugs there seems to be an updated driver once or twice a month
