Photoshop CC snaps outside of image when zooming

Hi all,

I'm an Industrial Designer that uses Photoshop for Digital Sketching and illustration on a Mac, using a Wacom Cintiq

Has anybody run into the following error where in the latest Photoshop CC, and have a fix?

When Sketching with the image rotated at certain angles, typically inverted (in order to get good hand/sketch trajectory), when I use the keyboard commands to zoom in or out PS snaps outside the boundaries of the image, way off into background, and I have to then manually drag back to the area of the sketch that I was working on. All layers/data are within the bounds of the image, so there's nothing relevant that it could be snapping to... it just throws the center of view off into nowhere.

If the image is upright, zoom seems to be just fine, and the focal of zoom is centered on the screen.

This has NEVER been an issue with previous versions of PS, and it's REALLLY annoying, as I can't stay zoomed in on the area that i'm sketching on and keep focus/flow.

Thanks for your assistance.

Hello, Photoshop 22, that has just been released, does have a zoom centering issue in its fixed issues list https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/fixed-issues.html#photoshop-desktop-fixed-issues

I recommend to install it while keeping the older version installed, as explained in: https://helpx.adobe.com/be_en/download-install/using/install-previous-version.html

If you are not seeing it, try to go to help>check for updates in your CC application.

Hi there,

Sorry that Photoshop is snapping out of  the image while zooming in.

Could you please let us know the exact version of Photoshop you are using? Like Photoshop 21.0.1 (you can check that by going to Help > System Info in Photoshop)

Also, where are you trying to save files? On a local drive or a network drive?

For troubleshooting:

  • Could you please turn on the Legacy Compositing option in Performance preferences?
Choose Edit > Preferences > Performance (Windows) or Photoshop > Preferences > Performance (macOS). Select Legacy Compositing. Quit and relaunch Photoshop.

Thanks,

Akash

After further searching, it seems that I am not the only one, and this is an aknowledged error.

I am using the latest version 21.0.1.

I tried your above troubleshooting, and did not work. It seems that it's truely a bug/error with the program, as others are having similar experiences.
