Problems including scrubby zoom, image ghosts and just plain crashing
I had to update recently (I usually avoid it at all costs) after we updated the computer. Everything is shiny and new, all drivers, hardware, the works, and a buttload of disk space. But Photoshop is driving me nuts! Here's the problems currently, hopefully someone has some ideas. I'm using Windows 10 btw.
Scrubby zoom - I understand I'm not alone in this one but it's no less irritating. Nothing I've found online and tried has gotten it to stop being grayed out. That magnifying glass zoom is an unbrookable waste of code. I really like scrubby zoom and I'm kinda sick of this magical way Photoshop always seems to screw things up in an update.
Ghosts - I can't think of another word for this. While I work on an image, after a while the top of the image window starts to hang on to horizontal sections of the image. I can move the rest of the thing around with the hand tool but the top remains obscured by a phantom of part of the image. I have to restart to clear it.
And - Sometimes Photoshop CC refuses to work, full stop. You open it and it won't let you open an image or click X to close, claiming there's a program error. You can make adjustments to Preferences and the like, but that's it. I have done multiple things that have gotten it to work.
It will have been working with use graphics processor on, then decide not to after I restart to clear the screen. I turn UGP off, it works that way, until it decides not to. I turn it on again... repeat. It will have been working with NVIDIA on and decide not to after a restart. I exit NVIDIA and it works, unless it's upset about the graphics processor being off or on. I selected legacy transform, it had a fit. I turned off both legacy transform and graphic processor and it worked, only somehow legacy transform was back on. There is no consistent pattern! Restarting the whole computer makes no difference, nothing predicts what will anger the Photoshop demon.
It's bad enough having the little annoyances, like the extras switching themselves back on for no reason, but at least the stupid thing should run right.
