I say this every year, is there any reason to upgrade to PE 2023?
Version 2022 is OK, it is slow and does freeze up sometime.
I'm using a PC with a Threadripper and see many MAC upgrades.
(like the Apple M1 chip)
Someone help me decide please 🙂

In my opinion, probably not. It has fewer features and not much new.
Here are my thoughts.

Thank you and nice video.
I'll keep on 2022 - either Adobe is lazy or just don't care much about the Premiere Elements.
I'm thinking that is the case, How many people work on it for Adobe? Maybe one person assigned to it, hehehe

My guess is that the market for editing software has changed so much that the Premiere Elements team is struggling at finding new ways to fit the new market requirements. Features that get little use (like DVD burning) are going away making room for other things. One new public beta feature allows video from your phone to migrate via cloud to your computer for quick editing and posting to social media. I tried it this week and am impressed!

Oh, where to I find public betas at? That sound interesting.

I've only tried it once and it worked. I shot a clip, used the app to put it "in the cloud" and found it ready to use in Organizer for a video project.

If it matters to you, V2023 will not create a DVD

Thank you, I never used that feature. I just like how fast I can edit in Premiere Elements and upload to my YouTube channel.

I have some relatives who barely know where the on/off button is on their TV/DVD player is located, so they send me cell phone video on a flash drive and I send back a DVD... so I will stick with V2021.4 on Win11

One more question, did they fix the freezing problems?
When editing and playing back after a while, the program doesn't display the video.
Even if playback is set to low or Automatic.
To fix, I can either RENDER or save, close and re-open.
(I have 32gb memory and an AMD Threadripper, so plenty of power. )
Thank you again.

Do not count on Windows to be fully up to date when it comes to device drivers
Go to the vendor site to be sure you have an updated driver for your graphic adapter
nVidia Driver Downloads https://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
-for all Adobe programs use the STUDIO driver, not the GAMING driver
-To achieve the highest level of reliability, Studio Drivers undergo extensive
-testing against multi-app creator workflows and multiple revisions of the top
-creative applications from Adobe to Autodesk and beyond
If you have a laptop you MAY also need to check for a laptop specific nVidia driver
-SOME laptops require an approved driver from the laptop company, not nVidia
AMD/ATI Driver https://www.amd.com/en/support

Thank you John,
I am running the latest nVidia STUDIO driver.
It doesn't make any difference for Elements freezing up playback sadly.
The only fix is to Render or save/close and reopen.

One more question, did they fix the freezing problems? ....
By @stever26434147
That's tough to answer. I have never been able to duplicate that issue. When it does come up on this forum, there is usually a computer or settings issue that resolves any sluggish or freezing behaviour.

I 100% agree with Bill. Freezing is not a universal issue so it will not be "fixed". The problem is more often related to source video, settings and/or resources.
