Can Adobe Premiere Elements support transparent video files?

Hey guys, super quick question... I'm trying to add a transparent explosion to my clip here. I got a few from Envato Elements and they say they have a transparent background.

They're in mov format, so I used Handbrake to convert them to an mp4. When I add them in though, it's just a total black screen with the explosion on it, so it covers the entire screen.

Am I doing it wrong, or is Premiere Elements not able to handle these?

Thanks!!

Yes Elements supports transparency.

When converting to mp4 you lose the transparency.

Post screenshot of the clip in MediaInfo in treeview here on the forum.

Post link to clip in Envato.

If the clip is Prores or Cineform Elements does not support this format,

The only format that works is Quicktime with Animation codec.

Ok let's see if I got everything. This one here is an example. There are about 15 of them I'd like to use, but this was the first one I tried...

The file does not have an alpha channel. Guessing it comes with a matte file or not?

Did you get one or two files?

If two you use this as a track matte.

Post the Media info.

I just got one file.

I think I did post the Media info. Does it not show up? It appears when I click on it. Thank you!

I think the idea is that you key out the black background.

As the file has no alpha channel, you can convert to mp4 and use that in Element.

On conversion, you will lose a lot of image quality

Use Ultra Key for keying.

Edit:

I am a little confused as weather the file has transparency or not.

But transparency or not its a Prores file which you cannot use.

Ohhhhhh ok, prores is bad, ok got it thanks! Here's another one I was trying, it says it's a PNG. I used some transparent PNG's for pictures on my thumbnails with no issue. Should this one work?

No Prores is not bad, it's one of the best codec and used in the professional world.

Elements is a consumer level program.

PNG  with alpha should work just fine.

Sorry I didn't mean it was bad... I meant that it's just bad for Premiere Elements.

Weird, even this PNG file won't work for me in Premiere Elements. Every single one I download is a big black square with the explosion in the middle. Oh well, thank you anyways!
