I am using Adobe Premiere Elements 18.0 (20201207.daily.2234367) with Windows 10 64-bit operating system
When I try to add MP4s shot on a GoPro 7 to a project I get the message "Unable to import media. Your system needs to be configured to import HEVC or HEIF type of media. Click on ‘Learn more' to know how to enable these formats for import."
But I have ensured both the HEVC and HEIF apps are installed.
I also deleted all the files from my C:\Users\Dave\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\common\Media Cache Files folder
I also updated my graphics device driver
I then rebooted my PC and tried to load the MP4 files as media to a Premiere Elements project but I still get the same "Unable to inport media" eror.
Previously I had this problem with MOV files shot on an iPhone. I had to convert the files with HandBrake in order to get them them into Preiere Elements.
But I have never had a problem with MP4 videos shot on GoPro camera. There are over 30 of them so I don't want to have to convert each one. I just want to be able to load my videos into Premiere like I used to.
Does anyone have an idea of what the problem might be?

It will depend on what is inside the MP4. Can you post a screen shot of the "Tree" view from the MediaInfo utility? Could you also post one of shortest clips that are causing you trouble?

As Bill suggests, open your MP4 in the free download MediaInfo. In MediaInfo, set View to Text and then either copy the text and paste it to this forum or take a screenshot of this entire report so we can see what's inside the file.

Thank you Gentlemen for the prompt reply.
I downloaded the MediaInfo app but had problems loading the MP4 files into the application. Here is a summary of my situation:
Why would my GoPro camera record in different formats (AVC and HEVC) when I made no changes to the settings other than FPS and resolution? All of the videos were shot on the same camera on the same day. Only different memory cards were used.
Why would Adobe Premiere continue to have problems loading HEVC format files when the extensions were installed?
Thanks in advance for any insights you can provide.

My first thought would be that, although Premiere Elements can edit HEVC 1920x1080 MP4s, I don't know that it can work well with 3840x2160 HEVC files.
But maybe Bill has more insight.
