Adobe Premiere Elements 15 will not accept my videos taken with my Mavic 2 Pro. I have had it in MOV and MP4. With MOV mode its says "importer reports generic error". MP4 mode states this type of file not supported. Elements had no problems with my P3P . Help please.
.
The video uses the HEVC video codec. This is a more advanced H.265 codec, as opposed to the more traditional H.265 codec used in most MP4s.
Premiere Elements does not currently support the H.265 codec and will not be able to edit this video.

That's what it was for sure. Does one of the newer elements, 17 18 support the 265? If not what does, Thanks a bunch for your help.

The current version of Premiere Elements is 2018 and it does not support H.265. Adobe Premiere Pro does support it.
For the lower priced video editors that handle H.265, one to look at is Cyberlink PowerDirector.

If you enjoy the Premiere Elements "ease of use", you might wait a couple weeks. If Adobe is on the same schedule they've kept for many years, there will be a 2019 version released very soon. It is only a guess on my part, but with the increasing number of iPhones and DJI drones using H.265, my bet is that it will be there.

Hello
I just tried a direct mavic pro 2 hevc h.265 output with adobe Premiere elements 2019 -- still not working on windows!
..a shame.
My setup is a ryzen 1800X with nvidia 1070, so plenty of power just for that.

For your current video you already have, you can convert the HEVC/H.265 with a (free) program called Handbrake. You will want it in an H.264 codec for Premiere Elements.
Quality won't noticeably change.
Would you like suggestions for other software to edit H.265 footage?
