When I load a video in 2024 premiere elements and playback for editing there is no sound.  I have this issue for all videos loaded.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

If the program won't play any audio from any source, go to the program's preferences (under the Edit menu) and, on the Audio Hardware page, play with the switches for Input and Output.  (How they're set depends on what you've got plugged into your audio and USB ports.)

Thank you so much for this. I was going crazy. I've had Premiere Elements for 2 months and haven't been able to start a single thing because I didn't have sound, but this fixed it.

Sometimes I will switch between headphones and speakers.   Premiere Elements doesn't always catch the switch if I am in a project.   Going to the Audio Hardware preferences will fix it.
