I recently installed Premiere Elements 2022, Trial version. My first project contains still photos and .mp4 video clips. When I play the project there is no audio from the video clips. I added music to the project and it is present when I play the project. Is there a setting I am missing or some other reason why the audio from the .mp4 video clips is not playing?

First guess is that the mute button on the left side of the mp4 audio track has been pushed.

Thanks for the response Bill. Not sure where I would go to check the status of the mp4 audio tracks. I am using Premiere Elements 2022, Trial version. I think I would need Premiere Pro to control audio tracks (is that correct?). I can play the mp4 videos using the builtin Windows 11 apps (Media Player, Movies & TV, Photos, Windows Media Player) and the audio plays in all of those apps.

In your first post you wrote that when you add music tracks to the project it "is present". Assuming that means you hear it, the audio is working. But, you don't hear the video clips. Did you check the mute buttons? Each track has one. You might have the audio turned off for that one track! If not, Ann is right about needing the information supplied by MediaInfo.
There are more audio controls in Premiere Pro and its partner, Audition. But, there are plenty of audio controls in Premiere Elements that are suitable for most videos.
Mute buttons are in the green box:

None of the audio tracks are muted. Here is the MediaInfo screen shot. This is the Basic view. Do you need it in a different view?

Make sure the Default input in the Audio Hardware in the Preferences is set to NONE.

Thanks for the reply Ann. I set the "Audio Hardware, Default Input" to "No Input", but the audio of the mp4 video clips still does not play.
I can play the mp4 video clips in the builtin Window 11 players and the audio plays just fine.

Did you reboot machine after setting parameter?

No, not initially, but I have now, and it makes no difference, still not getting any audio from the video clips.

Elements does not support the AMR audio in your clip.
Where did you get these files?
Video is very small in resolution and framerate. You will never get anything descent out of this.
If you want to test Elements use some real camera footage in HD quality and use a local drive, not One Drive.

Thank you for that information. The videos were sent to me. I have no idea how they were taken. I shot a video on my phone (Samsung Galaxy S20) using 8K/24 and added it to a Premiere Elements project. It came out great and with audio. Why should I avoid using One Drive for my video storage?

Using anything other than primary drives is too slow for video editing. The computer has to do a lot of work and cloud storage willnput in a major bottle neck. This is not unique to Premiere Elements. Best is if you can have your project, source and output to a solid state drive ("SSD"). There is no reason you can't store a finished video on a cloud drive, but the files are big!

One Drive is good for backup not for editing. If possible always use local drives.

I basically use One Drive for backup, all of my files that are on One Drive are marked "Always keep on this device". My media are stored on a HDD and my project files are stored on a SDD. So far I don't have a problem with Premiere Elements speed, but my test projects have been quite small, 15+/- still photos and a couple of video clips.
I want to thank you, Bill and Ann, for your help.
On another note, I already have Photoshop Elements 2022. If I decide to purchase Premiere Elements 2022, can I get the bundled purchase price? I paid the upgrade price for Photoshop, $79.99 + tax. I have a Premiere Elements 17 license. Can I get Premiere Elements 2022 for $40 + tax (Bundle Upgrade price of $119.99 - Photoshop Elements Upgrade purchase of $79.99)?

Since you didn't upgrade the "bundle", I think you are stuck with the upgrade price for the single program. You could still try by opening a chat sesson with Adobe and ask for a change to a "bundle upgrade". I am a "user" like you, not "staff". https://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html?rghtup=autoOpen
