Old film effect

Community Beginner ,

I still have an old copy of Adobe Elements 2020.

Can any body tell me where I can find the 'Old Film' effect so I can copy it and insert it into the workings of my 2024 please?

I don't know if this will work for Premiere Elements, but it sometimes works for Premiere Pro to be able to use obsolete effects:

Create a project in the old version that has the desired effect that is missing in the new version and use it on the timeline.

Save the project.

Open the project in the new version.

The effect can then be copied from one clip to another.

I tried some free Internet searching.  So, in addition to Bob's suggestion, you might try this.  I searched for "old film overlay free" and came up with some choices.  I tried one, put in on a track above the primary clip and adjusted the opacity.  It seemed to help to apply the Black & White effect and also adjusting the opacity.   Maybe also add some vignette.   There were a lot of overlay choices!

If the old film is an overlay (grayish with black artifacts) you most of the time set the blending mode to Screen.

Thanks Ann.  I've never used blend modes and had to look it up.  "Screen" worked with the overlay I tried!
