It's been forever since I have started a new project and I have a newer HP computer. Spec of

Processor:  Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10510U CPU @ 1.80GHz 2.30 GHz

Installed Ram:  16.0 GB (15.8 GB usable)

Since I have not done a project in a long time I still have installed on this computer Adobe Premier Elements 12. When I go to it and click "start a new project" is scrolls across, then quits and never opens.

Are they not compatible, or is the program too old, any suggestions would be great. Thanks

Maybe.  Backward compatibility is not a feature.  However, if the old project is simple, without a lot of effects, transitions, etc., it may load.  Download a trial, make copy of the old project and try it.

The other choice is to use the output of the old project as a source in the new system.  Then add material you want or cut parts you don't.

If you computer is current and up to date, Premiere Elements 13 was coded before your operating system.   You may not be able to get it to work.  You can try a fresh isntallation if you have those files, but that may not work either.

You choices might be to get a fresh version, use the "pretty good" editor that comes with Windows or shop for a new NLE.

Okay Bob, thanks I believe that you are correct it will not work with my newer computer. I was able to open the organizer but never the video portion of the program. I uninstalled it and tried to reinstall it and it would not do that.

So now my next question is if I were to get a newer version would I be able to input my older projects into it and get those to reload and be able to work with them?

I have similar issue with PRE release 11 which does not start any more. I suspect a windows update.

Nevertheless, I can open R11 projects on my release 2019 and continue work on them.

I think it could be the same with new (2022) versions.
