I'm sorry, I know this has been asked before, but I have never found a succesful solution.

Desperatly want to import videos from a GoPro, but recordings at 4K (H.265) won't import as video. Also videos recorded at 240 frames per second give the same result. Other videos from the GoPro are H.264, and work fine, but not the H.265 ones.

Does anyone have a solution for this? I can't download a video converter, unless I can find one that isn't a big download. (Very limited internet)

Thank you.

First make sure we know which version of the program you're working with.

Then open your original video in the free download MediaInfo. In MediaInfo, set  View to Text and then copy the text of this report and paste it to this forum.

Most likely these complete specs will tell us what is going on. Although I can see right now that Premiere Elements can not work with 4K running at more than 30 fps. So that's likely your main issue.

I should have said H.265s won't imprt in the title, not .MP4s. Oops.

The video converter that will solve all your problems is the great, free Handbrake. (In fact, throw the rest away. They'll often make your video LESS editable.) Use these specs and you'll video will load easily into the program.

I tried downloading Handbrake, but then it wan't me to dowload two other patches, or update or something, and it was too big a download for my internet right now. I'll have to wait until next moth to finish dowloading it.

I'm really surprised it can't handle 4k! I guess it can't handle 1080 240fps either then? Thank you for taking the time to help me!

As I said, Premiere Elements frequently has issues with 4K video that is other than 30 fps. Yours is 60 fps and uses the HEVC video codec.

Convert it to H.264 video at 30 fps using Handbrake and the instructions in my tutorial and your problems will all go away.

The current download of Handbrake is 500 mb file. I'm not sure why it is overloading your connection.

Thank you for your help. I'll come back and update when I can give it a try. Didn't realise it was 60fps either.

My home internet package is 5GB a month, so 500mb is massive for me. Pretty ridiculous now-a-days and considering where I live, but what can you do? 😞

Sorry. My mistake. It's a 27 meg download. (About 90 once you unzip it.) Shouldn't take more than 10-20 seconds to download.

Well, this did solve my problem, but unfortunate that I would have ot loose either quality or fps. I think I'll be changing software.

Thank you for your help! I appreciate it.

By @Aliuh

The title of this topic says you are working with Premiere Elements 11.   High frame rate GoPro HEVC footage wasn't invented when that was current software!  You at least need a newer version of Premiere Elements!   There are free trials.
