I have an older but still capable i5-2500k based computer with integrated HD3000 graphics. I have verified that I have the latest drivers installed. Running Windows 10.
As soon as I click on Export/Share, I get a spinning circle that never stops until the program asks if I want to wait or close. I've tried the simplist 1-clip proect and it still does this. PE 2020 on the same computer does not hang and I'm able to export normally. All other features seem to work OK.
I hate to think I just bought a program that won't work on my computer. BTW, I tried opening a 2023 project in 2020 but that gives an error that I assume is based on data incompatibility.
TIA.

Your machine might be a bit underpowered to handle 2023 especially when using H.264 file.
You cannot open a 2023 project in 2020. Projects in not backward compatible.

I would understand if there was a problem exporting, rendering, playing, etc., but I wouldn't think the export/share function itself would just refuse to open.

Your machine is nearly 10 years old!
If you upgrade software so should hardware.
Try reinstalling the software.

Tried a complete uninstall and reinstall. Dragged a single photo onto the timeline and tried to export with exact same results (system hang). Remember this is not DURING the export; it's when I simply click on the Export/Share button (or select it from the File dropdown.)
There's no other software that won't run on my system, other than that which requires a discrete graphics card. One of the reasons I chose Elements is because a gc is not required (unless that's changed with the new version.)
