Premiere Elements 2023 - Pan & Zoom Problems

Trying to do a simple Pan & Zoom to an image I have imported into Premiere Elements 2023, and have placed on the timeline.  The end results should be that the image starts out at near full frame. then over several seconds zooms into a specific point on the image.  That final point is near the center/top of the image.

No matter the method I try, about 2 seconds into the image zooming towards my desired point in the upper center, the image suddenly flips to the exact center of the image and continues zooming from their until the zoom completes.  Never again even showing my requested detail location.

I am using the following method:

1) Place marker on the exact point in the timeline for the zoom.

2) Open Pan & Zoom

3) Click Reset

4) Click Settings & change hold time to 0.

5) Ensure timeline marker is at zero & click Add New Frame

6) Maximize frame 1

7) Move marker to the end & click Add New Frame

8) Move and resize frame 2 at the upper/center of the image

9) Press Preview button

10) For the first 2 seconds the zoom functions correctly, moving the focus toward the upper/center where I desire the final zoom to end.

11) At 2 seconds, the image suddenly changes (At the same zoom) to the exact center of the image.

12) Then continues to zoom in fully, only the zoom is at the exact center, not the upper/center where I wish the focus to be.

I am hoping someone can see where I might be erroring and set me straight.

Thanks,

Bruce

The Pan & Zoom tool has some presets that I don't particularly like. That's why I prefer to manually create my pans and zooms using keyframes.

But if you want to use the Pan & Zoom tool, here are some workarounds I've found.

Hi Steve!

I actually already tried and use the method suggested in this video before I asked this question.  Still have the same results........  Can you elaborate on how you manually create pans and zooms using keyframes????

I guess I should add that I am adding this to a specific spot in a video clip, not a still image.  Maybe that makes a difference?

Thanks!

Thanks guys!

this is great!  using keyframes is the way to go.  I will never use Pan & Zoom in Premiere Elements again.  Good quality intelligent videos.
