I'm having a bit of a problem getting my mts/avchd files to work with PE9. I imported the files using the organiser, and they play fine (video AND audio) from the organiser, but when I import the clips into PE9, only video is imported. There's no audio track and (logically?) no audio to be heard. How do I fix this?
Mind, these .mts files play fine in both the organiser AND windows 7. They're created on a Canon HF100 camcorder.
The trial version of the PROGRAM itself is fully functional. However, some of the third-party components are not, unfortunately. These include some MPEG and AVCHD components.

Has this not helped for audio issues??
And yes, serializing always does help..

I'm sure the PE-9 wrinkle will be sorted; but in the meantime Vegas will do. I have found that both Windows Media Player and my WD HD Live Player struggle with Vegas's m2ts files after about 2 minutes (becomes jittery, as in dropped frames, which has been reported for other Panasonic-origin files) and seems to be solved by muxing (still with m2ts output). By the way, Amazon.co.uk have just dropped the price of Vegas Production suite to ~£31.50....bit of a steal at that price if you can live with English!

As of now my files are working properly. It took the full purchase of the program and a full registration of the program. Also I installed ALL content packs HD and non HD and now everything works perfectly. Also This program is MUCH better than premiere elements 8.

Many have had the same experience, praising PrE 9 over PrE 8.
Glad that with all modules fully activated, over the trial, worked well.
Thanks for reporting your success, and good luck,
Hunt

I find it odd that so many people appear to have problems with PE9 AVCHD
I have a paid copy running on an old Core duo 2.4g 4 Mb ram. 3 hard drives (1=OS, 2=Video, 3=all project files)
I use a Sony 350 1900x1080i camera and old a Sony DV tape camera. I use the Sony software to get them to the computer.
I have had no problems or crashes with anything including mixing both cameras in the one project although it was sluggish to edit when I originally had everything on one hard drive.

Let me ask this of everyone as I'm considering purchasing the upgrade and moving to PE9 - one post I saw indiciated that depending on your shoooting res, that may impact audio as the profile doesn't exist properly in PE9. For example, I just shot a video on my Canon HFS100 camera in 24p AVC. However, I've read elsewhere (I forget where) that the correct profile does not exist in PE9 for this. I was able to have a friend who has the full version of PE CS5 open the file problem free, but at least the trial version of PE9 coudln't handle this particular formatted video.
Thoughts?

Premiere Elements 9 does indeed include a project setting for editing 24p AVCHD. Did you select that preset when you created your Premiere Elements project?
Also, it may be better to start your own thread to continue this discussion. We're already way down at the bottom of a very old, almost unrelated thread here, and your post is liable to get lost.

@Steve thanks for your reply. Yes I tried ALL project presets. Strange that it worked with PE8 correct.
I consider a clean install of Windows 7-64. What I serious think the issue is: "it's the combination of Windows 7-64 with PE9".
Because with PE8 I had Vista on my pc.
I'm looking for people having a good working PE9 on a windows 7-64 (ultimate) pc.
And yes I will open a new tread for it.

I am also having issues with no sound for .mts files in premiere elements 9. There is no sound in premiere or the organizer and no sound displays in the timeline. When importing directly form the camera (Canon HF20) there is also no sound. If I play through ImageMixer everything is fine. Please help. Using full activated version. I have updated all drivers and quicktime.

I highly recommend you contact Adobe Tech Support. And dont' be afraid to ask for a supervisor if the person who answers the phone can't help you.
Not only will they likely be able to troubleshoot the problem -- but it will also make Adobe aware that there is a problem!

FINALLY!
After installing Adobes update to PRE9 yesterday the sound is now working in organizer and in main program.
Although, in the updates description this specific fix is not mentioned. But it says it includes fixes for "some issues reported by users thorugh various forums".
Can anyone else confirm that yesterdays update from Adobe actually fixed the .mts sound problem?
If so, we should agree that this was a (quite big) bug in PRE9 and not a problem with "serialization".
Better late then never I guess, just in time for me to get them Christmas gift DVDs together.

I read this mail in my holidays, so no I'm back and installed hopeful the update.
Unfortunately it's no solution for me. Within short time I install everything, including windws 7 from scratch. First programm after windows I will install is PRE9.

YES YES YES it works.
Newly install did not work, but somebody sold me a version with a serial which was already used.
After having a correct serial al problems solved.
Thanks everybody for help and suggestions.

Great news! I would not have even thought to ask if the copy was legit.

What me surprises is when I entered the serial, the program accepted it easily. Without error statement. After the update the message came that the there serial was incorrect, with this knowledge I went to the shop and it seems one of their (ex) employees used it.

Reinstalling Windows 7 64-bit did not do it for me, although everything works now since the latest update.
Would be interesting to know if you notice any difference after reinstalling.
Quick Time is not needed for .mts-files to work, but maybe for other file formats.

I would like to inform you that in my case (Mac OS X, Premiere Elements 9, Canon Legria HF R16) the .MTS (AVCHD) files can be natively edited with PRE9 with no problems with the sound.

Here I'm...
Same issues: no audio from mts and m2ts files, even in organizer and timeline.
I've tried to:
No Sulution found...
The file(s) play(s) good, with sound and good quality using Nero media Hub 10.
If I rename the files in .avi the sound is played in PE9 but the images are jerky.
I've not time to try to reinstall all PE9 because I'm working to several projects.
Any idea?
A question: you often talked about serialize and activation.
When I bought PE9 I've written the serial in my tryout copy and nothing happened after it.
Should I have done something more?
Thanks
Adam

I've got lost. You're talking about changing serial number. But if someone hasn't got an internet connection to validate a serial after he received it via e-mail on another pc, he won't never be able to use mts or m2ts files? Or should I ask a new serial to Adobe? please help me because all these answeres didn't help me a lot...

Without an Internet connection, I would call Adobe C/S (Customer Service) and explain your problem. It would not hurt to have your invoice for the program handy. They should be able to handle things over the telephone.
Good luck,

I think the Principe is that you need an Internet connection for activation. Same as with Microsoft products.
But as already recommended to you, call Adobe an tell them you don't have Internet.

I will call them but it still seems strange as I couldn't find any message about connecting for activation... it just accepted the code and that's it! Now i discover that I should do something more (but what?) to have mts support... bah!

I can (try to) explain. For this PRE9 Adobe bought a piece of software from company 'X', in this case audio for AVCHD. They have to be sure the copy is legal, otherwise Adobe pays and not gets anything back when somebody uses a keymaker. So if you don't need the audio for AVCHD (extension *.MTS) the program works fine.
