properly uninstalling and reinstalling Premiere Elements 2023

Explorer ,
Apr 02, 2023 Apr 02, 2023

I think I have a corrupted text 'family' that's listed in the Text section.

Via a chat with an Adobe staff member, last week, he said I need to uninstall and reinstall the program, but I've also been told that there's a particular way Adobe Premiere Elements needs to be uninstall and reinstalled. Is that true?

Here's a link that has screen shots of the issues I'm having. If there's a better way to fix just this problem please share! I'd love to be able to fix just this little text 'family' instead of uninstalling and reinstalling the entire program. (I have Adobe Premiere Elements Pro 2023, propetual license.)

thanks in advance for any help!

Happy Update! An agent (after working with 3 agents) finally remoted into my computer to experience what was happening. That agent sent me to his/her supervisor who then also helped. They had to rename all the Adobe folders to <Adobe.OLD> then and only then did the reinstall FULLY reinstall. Just a 'windows' uninstall and reinstall wasn't truly removing all of the program. Everything works now! YAY!!!!

I have no idea what a "particular way Adobe Premiere Elements needs to be uninstall and reinstalled" might be.  The usual way is to use the operating system to uninstall and then rerun the installation file.

What happens if you delete the title from the time line and try using it again.  Which title is it?  I would like to try using it to see what happens.

It's under Titles > Formal > General. When you see it, Look for the ones with a gray background with a teal text box. Gail - screen shot.jpgerror.jpgdifferent motion title in the same family.jpg

It works on my computer.  My best guess is that files on your computer were moved, deleted, corrupted or somehow changed.  You can look in this location , see if you have files that start with "05formal...." but there is no way I know to "fix" them.  C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Premiere Elements\21.0\Online\Rich Title Templates\All_Lang\Formal\General

Scaning your posts, it does not appear that you have done an uninstall and reinstall.  I think that is the only way you can fix this.  It will not destroy your project but it should replace the needed title files.

The agent may have been referring to the Cleaner Tool:

https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html

See here for Premiere Elements specific help with the Tool:

https://community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop-elements-discussions/no-uninstaller-listing-for-elements-20...

I would just try an uninstall and reinstall with your operating system before using the Cleaner Tool and see if that works.

Well everybody. Bad news. 😞 I uninstalled and reinstalled Elements but that family of Titles still doesn't work.

Any other ideas? (I have screen shots above.)

Could it be as simple as I'm a dumby and not using this family of texts correctly? Does your's look like my screen shots that I posted in my previous post?

Using the Cleaner Tool as posted in an earlier reply would probably have worked, too.

Hi Gail, I am having similar issues and would desperately like to have an agent have a look at my computer. I would be very grateful if you could tell me how you got hold of the agent?  Ed Marshall

Hi Ed,
I logged into my Adobe account. Then I scrolled alllllll the way to the bottom and clicked Support then selected Help Center. On that page, there’s a chat 💬 symbol that pops up in the bottom right corner of the screen.
Hope that helps!
