Some Fades not connection to the middle - causing problems

Hi there,

I have built up a long video which I have splitted in multiple subvideos.

It's a tennis video in which I fade to the next exercise after the exercises. I mostly use the "soft fade" transition here. Now it is often the case that Premiere Elements does not seem to recognize the transition of the two scenes and does not place the crossfade exactly in the middle, but on one of the two scenes. This then often results in a problem in the final video, namely that the transition is not clean but a bumpy "jitter", sometimes you can see the black background. Here is a screenshot from Premiere Elements and how this transition looks like in the final video.

How can I prevent this? What is going wrong? I have the problem with about 10 of 120 scenes.

Best regards,

Martin

What version are you using.  I'm looking for the "Cross Fade" and can't find it in the current version.  Sometimes it takes a little extra effort to get a transition exactly in the middle.  If I remember correctly, there has to be enough extra frames in a clip for transitions to work.  In other words, if the clip has not been "trimmed" a little the program has to make some freeze frames to help.   Watch this Grisetti video:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9mRHv8Q-TcY

Hi,

thank you very much for your explaination. I watched the video and now I finally understand why transitions cannot be placed to the middle. Too bad, that does not seem to solve my problem. I fixed the transitions and they are all placed in the middle now. But I can do whatever I want. When i fix one problem it occures on an other part of the video. Sometimes I see the problem already in the editor, sometimes I only see the problem when I exported the video.

Im using "Weiche Blende" transition, thats the german word - I have added a screenshot. I saw that there is a strange black symbol on it. When I click it more often I can let it disappear. Its so weired, I dont know what to do.... Im using version 2023.

We call that one "Cross Dissolve" and I too am using 2023.  I would like to try to first duplicate what is going wrong for you and then try to help you fix it.  So far, I am not having trouble using it on my system.  I can place it directly on the cut line between clips without trouble.

I have created a completely new project and imported the videos without any further modifications. I just put the transitions over the and exported. Same result - black flickering on transition parts....

What is the source and specifications of the clips?  Can you send me a couple clips via Dropbox or similar?  I would like to try them on my computer to see if I can duplicate the problem.

I got the links.  I put them into a prject, added the transitions and output a video.  It seemed to work OK.  It remains a mystery why it isn't working for you.  I'm not sure how to help.    https://vimeo.com/817088728/f8ccde2dfc

Martin,

That's good news that you got it fixed.  The bad news is that there are so many posts in video editing forums regarding GPU drivers.
