Help required importing MP4 files into Premiere Elements. I’ve been on the live chat this morning and it’s still not working. Premiere Elements doesn’t seem to recognise the External Hard Drive with all my Videos on it. I am using a MacBook Pro M1

Just to be clear -- Are you saying the program won't recognize your MP4s or are you saying that it won't recognize your external drive? Those are very different issues.

What happens if you move one of those MP4s to your main computer's hard drive? Are you able to import it into a project then?

What device created these MP4s and which version of the program are you using?

Hi Steve,

Sorry for the slow reply. The issue I’m having is Premiere Elements won’t recognise the External HD.  I’ve had the adobe support team remotely logged into my MacBook trying to sort this out, but it’s still not working. All my other photography/Video editing Apps can see this drive. Very odd

hope you can help.

Regards Martin

But what happens if you move an MP4 to your computer's internal hard drive? Can you import it into a project?

Hi Steve, Yes correct, if I move an MP4 or still image from the External HD to the computer HD, it imports without a glitch. Even if I put an MP4 onto an SD card, Premiere Elements can import that. It purely the External HD that’s the problem. I have tried a different External HD and the same thing happens with that.
