Community Beginner ,

Hi everybody,

I have a problem exporting a video, getting an unknown error.

The log says:

Can you please help me?

Here's my trick for changing your project settings to match your video.

Well, this is a user to user forum, so none of us can read crash logs. That's more for working with Adobe's techs.

We deal more with basic reality here.

How long is your movie and what are you trying to export it as?

How much free space is on your hard drive?

Are there blank spots on your timeline where there is no video?

Have you used a Stop Marker on your timeline? You normally should not.

What happens if you go into the program's Preferences (under the Edit menu on a PC) and uncheck the option to Use Hardware Acceleration? Will your movie output now?

Allright, thank you.

The video is about 12 minutes long.

I am trying to export it as H.264

Free disc space ~100 GB.

No blank spots

No stop marker

Tried to uncheck the hardware acceleration allready, but the result is the same.

Which H.264 export are you using? There are at least half a dozen options.

What is your original footage and where is it from? What is its resolution and format?

What happens if you make a copy of your project and cut it down to 5 minutes long? Will that output?

If the project keeps stopping at the same spot when you try to output it, that could indicate a problem segment of your movie. If it won't even start to output, that's a whole other issue.

Footage was created on a Sony a6000 and GoPro Hero 8 Black:

I cut it down to 30 seconds and it works.

But the next part has to be even smaller. This goes on for 3 or 4 parts and then its just the single clips...

It always aborts at 13%, no matter which clip

If you delete all of the GoPro footage from one of your project copies and fill in the blank spots on your timeline, does it output? (Once you've removed all the GoPro video, check under the Edit menu and see that 1440x1080 25 fps is listed on the General page of Project Settings.)

The program should be able to do it,  but it's worth checking to see if the mix of those two very different video formats is overwhelming the program.

Realising, that i used the gopro and the sony, i deleted all the sony clips, which did not work.
Deleting the gopro footage also doesn't work.

I now deleted every single clip and reinserted a few gopro clips, which is working.

As I've said, much depends on your Project Settings, which you'll find under the program's Edit menu. I'm not sure what your Project Settings were when the project was giving your problems, but apparently they are now more compatible. Though that's hard to say since I don't know what your Project Settings are now either.

This isn't a screen you can change, Christoph. But it does tell us our project's settings.

Right now your project is set up as 1920x1080 at 30 fps -- which doesn't match either of your source videos. This will give you very ineffecient playback and might be the cause of your problems.

Usually the program will automatically match the specifications of the first clip you add to your timeline. What is the first clip on your timeline?

As an experiment, try starting a new project and then add one of your 3840x2160 clips to the beginning of your timeline. Then check your Project Settings. I'm interested to hear if the program is matching its settings to this video.

If not, it could be because this video has Quicktime MP4 specifications. But that shouldn't matter.

This is what you want to happen. I'm not sure why it didn't in your earlier project.

But if your Project Settings match one of your videos, you should have no problems making your movie.

I might have to correct me...
I was trying to render it at 1920x1080, but the project setting is 4k. Right now rendering it at 4k seems to work... We will see
