Video made and saved, does not play when I try to view it.

I made a video (about 8 clips with music). This is my first video with Premiere Elements 2023.

I get a couple of "errors".

First is the pop up telling me that the file(s) I selected for my video work place do not match my project settings.

I do not know what that means or how to fix it.

Second is that after making all the clip/cuts, adding music, saving and exporting the video, it starts to play for about 2-3 seconds and then it stops and tells me it cannot play.

I have used Photoshop Elements & Premiere for years but this version seems to be causing me considerably more problems than previous version. I do admit I am not a pro, just an amateur so the technical aspects are confusing to me.

If more details are needed I will try to provide them.

The first popup is PrE looking at your clip and automatically changing the project settings to match.  For example, if you took HD 1920x1080 footage with a camera, the project will be set to 1920x1080.

For the second question, more is needed about how your are playing the finished video.  What program are you using for that?

Meantime here's an explanation on how to set up a video project and why you see the warning that your video specs don't match your project settings.

Thank you Steve and Bill, that was a very helpful YouTube on the project settings. That clears up one question for me. As for the second...the usual player (other than viewing in Adobe video as I work) is Windows Media Player. I also tried Movies & TV. Both of those on my computer using Windows 10. In the next few days I will be giving some of my riding GoPro video files another try in case the problem was a one off error.

Thank you both again.

Consider trying the free VLC Media Player.

+1 for VLC.

Windows Media Player has some limitations.

I'm pretty sure that the problem is NOT with Windows Media Player and I know that VLC media player is a good viewer. I am sure that this particular problem is in the video not the player. I would be happy to include the video in my query here but it is larger than the 47 mb maximum size.

I assume that I should just let this one go and try another creation.

Thank you again Steve and Bill.

Can you DropBox or MediaFire the video to us?

Or can you output a short 1 minute version of the video? I'd very much like to study a file that won't play.

Unless you're trying to play the .prel file -- which is a project file, not a video file. I assume you're trying to play an MP4 that the program has output.

Sorry, I have deleted the file in question.

I do have a copy of the file that will play however it includes a rather lengthy section of blank video at the "end".

This file/video I have tried to cut out the blank portion and shorten it down to only the actual video footage but it stops at 20% and hangs there. I have left it sitting there to see if it would finish but several hours later it remains at 20%.

The file is an MP4. Dropbox and Mediafire are unknown to me. I tried installing Dropbox but it leaves me at a loss as to how to use it. Mediafire doesn't seem to require an installation for the simplest useage.

Would trying to upload via Mediafire the long file be of any help. If not I again suggest we simply give up on this, have a cuppa coffee and move on to other things (smile).

Whatever you'd like to do. We're always willing to help -- but maybe this one is worth setting aside unless it happens again.

By @FawadAli

You posted a list for Premier Pro which is quite different.

Correct list:
