Edited 2/26/24 - Added "In source view" to Title

I have concluded that this is not a bug, but as intended. See my post here:

https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro-bugs/quot-the-issue-of-the-disabled-delete-button-quot/idc-p/14443394#M21425

In part, "...this feature only allows you to delete what is in the timeline/sequence. Which means you must be in SEQUENCE/timeline view...."

Original post, 10/28/23

See Bug posted in regular forum:

https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro-discussions/bug-to-delete-pauses-delete-button-missing/td-p/14179937

The problem is present in 24.0 Release and in at least Beta 68 and 72.

My speculation in the regular forum post was incorrect. The Delete (toggle) button does not appear for Source transcription. It does for Sequences with Source or Static transcriptions. Note that in the Sequence, there is a beginning and ending pause that does not exist in the Source transcription.

Steps to reproduce:
1 - Transcribe a source clip.

2 - Be sure settings result in one or more pauses.

3 - Change the Filter to Pauses or set Filter to Text and enter a search.

Result: The Delete toggle button does not appear.
Expected: The button would appear and toggle the Delete/Delete All buttons on.

Using “Generate text-based editing transcript” really fixed things.

But only for use when translating into English.

Although the version is updated to 24.4, the problem still exists.

@Agata5EC1,

I don't think anyone described a workaround.

My last, hopefully correct, description was "...the problem is in Source view with a source transcript and in Sequence view with a static transcript. And you also see the problem if you nest a Sequence with source transcripts in another sequence."

This should mean that it will work if you have source transcriptions in sequence view. Give that a try and let us know.

We are hoping for a fix in the next update.

Hi there, I am still unsure how to fix this bug. Could you please give more detailed directions, if possible? Thank you!

Confirmed the bug, as described in my 11/15/23 post, in Beta 24.2.0.27.

Beta 24.2.0.15.

I apologize for continuing to reach incorrect, or at least incomplete, results. I continued to be bothered by screenshots of other users that show the problem in Sequence view. And @ENKOR Films posted in the regular forum saying that using “Generate text-based editing transcript” fixed things.

I now believe that the problem is in Source view with a source transcript and in Sequence view with a static transcript. And you also see the problem if you nest a Sequence with source transcripts in another sequence.

The correct behavior is for a) Filter by pauses to show an active Delete button and a greyed out Replace button and b) Filter by text with a search term (that is found at least once) to show active Delete and Replace buttons.

The incorrect behavior is for a) Filter by pauses to show neither button active and b) Filter by text with a search term (that is found at least once) to show an inactive Delete button and an active Replace button.
