Import corrected transcript (txt) do nothing

Participant ,
Aug 14, 2025 Aug 14, 2025

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Text-window: Transcribe Sequence
  2. Text-window: Export / Export to text file
  3.  Edit Text in external Editor (eg Text-Edit on Mac)
  4. Text-window: Import / Import corrected transcript (txt)

Result: corrected transcript is not importet, nothing happens

Expected: transcript should be corrected.

An info why Premiere can't import would be helpful. Error don't happens always, error happens even in Premiere V25.3.84, error hapens even after correcting a few letters in transcript.

System info

    Application: Premiere Pro (Beta) v25.6.0.29

OS: macOS v15.6.0, RAM: 64,00 GB GB, CPUs (logical): 12

@Det Scholz,

I cannot replicate. BUT I did get very odd Beta results.

I was addressing a regular forum question where the user was not getting good results with export/reimport:

https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro-ideas/please-let-me-export-and-reimport-transcripts/idi-...

This has been working as designed, but I had not tested for a bit. Your post got my attention. I tested first in Release 25.3.0, since my Beta is at 25.6.0.24. Release 25.4.0 has dropped, but not available to me yet.

In 25.3.0, I can export .txt, and can successfully reimport: no change, change one word, and adding a bunch to one segment. I can also successfully import the whole transcript as one paragraph - remove all speakers, timecodes, line endings, so you have one big paragraph of sentences and a single return at the end.

In Beta 25.6.0.24, I could not export any transcript version - just silent fails. But I suspect the dialogs were piling up in the background because I got an error message with "Device must retart" and crash. When I reopened, all was just fine. Go figure. I did the same tests as above, all worked.

You say "transcribe sequence." I did most of the tests on a source file transcription, but I also tested static sequence transcript in 25.3.0.

I'll look at this again when I update the Beta.

Updated to Beta 25.6.0.39. Exports are again working. Reimport of simple edit "as corrected" works okay.

They made some additions to the Import menu. I suspect that created one or more issues briefly.

Post back if you are still seeing a problem.

Hey Stan,

testing it with Beta V25.6(42) is still in issue.

In my case I do a short sport-clip with voice over afterwards. Then I transcribe the sequence, export as text make small corrections using simple text on mac (just corrected one name) an try to reimport the script. Premiere does nothing even no error message.
