Steps to reproduce:
    1. Attempt to add merged clip to timeline

Result: spinning beachball, finally giving up and force quitting. (I've waited several minutes to see if things eventually resolve...after about 5 minutes I gave up.)
Expected: regular clips act as expected.

Resetting prefs and plugin caches seems to have resolved this.

Hi,

I have tried resetting cache and that seemed to work but then it didn't. Problem back. I'll try rresetting prefs.

For nearly all uses, including 'simple' joining video with separate audio, Merge Clips is not the expected nor proper tool. For joining video & audio, the "Multicam clip" process is the proper tool to use. It is NOT just for multicam work!

Yea, it sounds wrong, but it's not. Here's the very first bit of their Best Practices for Long-form/Episodic introduction (one of the best guides for any user on proper setup and use of the app):

Merged clips is only intended for quick timeline joins to throw video/audio together and move around. It has severe limitations from not working in any XML./EDL process to not allowing many common editing keyboard shortcuts, like top & tail Q/W shortcuts.

So ... maybe try multicam clips instead ... ?
