Playhead Skipping during Multi-Cam Playback

As of the last few beta builds playhead rendering while using the multicam view seems to be quite juttery at best and completely stops moving at worst (playing back at 2x speed is pretty bad for it right now and can even result in the user getting stuck and unable to stop playback for a while as premiere stops responding to inputs).
What's weird is that manually moving the timeline while playback is occurring seemingly causes the playhead to update its position like normal. I've attached a video showcasing this behaviour.

My timeline at current if 3x 4k clips in a multicam nest (all proxied at prores_proxy at 50% render scale), and 4x lavs. My timeline at current is near 5h in length with about 2.5h of rough cut edits. Moving to a smaller timeline makes this behaviour slightly better, but still incredibly noticeable.

Video playback itself is also perfectly fine with no dropped frames, and dropping the playback to 1/16 also has no effect on this issue occurring.

Another interesting thing is it appears is the 3rd video I've attached; you can see during playback the timecode on the timeline panel itself is super juttery, but the one of the effect controls window is perfect - UNTIL I start panning with the hand tool, then they literally swap haha

Windows 11, Prem v25.1.0 (build 12)

Media all 4k h264 8bit-420, prores proxy at 25% res scale

I did a clean install (win11), but it didn't completely fix my issue. Eventually if ANYTHING else grabs onto hardware acceleration prem will just let it go and NEVER take it back until I completely reboot my system. So this is really only a bandaid solution.

Okay, final update;

I don't know why but reinstalling windows has fixed the issue. I don't know what the hell broke itself in the last few weeks but I am just glad this saga is finally over lol

This has gotten worse in 25.1beta28

I took a recording showing a blank section of a multicam nest showing just how worse playback is right now during multicam view vs not

I think maybe something strange is going on for cpu's without an igpu? as I experience this only on my 5900x system and not my 7900x system.

And this video I've recorded showing what happens when I turn off UI GPU acceleration (no more stutter but the UI starts wildly flashing when I scroll along the timeline) leads me to believe that's the case

Scratch that, it seems it's related to some panels being open while playback is occurring

see this video here

You'll see that if panels like `Effect Controls`, `Audio Track Mixer` or the new `Properties` (while a clip is selected) are open, the playback is super stuttery, but as soon as I flick over to the `Frame.io` panel my playhead returns to normal.

As I don't usually have clips selected during playback and I generally have the `Effects Controls` panel open, perhaps one of the recent changes to that panel is what is causing this issue??

Hi, I am having a similar stuttering problem and I've tried a lot of stuff. Could you tell me what version of windows you were using (win10?) and what kind of reinstall you did? (Clean install, or did you get to keep all your apps and settings)

Well may I ask do you use any of these plugins?
-Motion Bro
-Mister Horse
-Excalibur
-Free Stock Search

I was really hoping Ppro V25 was gonna fix everything but it's looking like it's worse instead

Yes I use both mr horse and excalibur but the issue isn't with extensions. Best I can guess is that it's an odd issue with windows/prem/(maybe nvidia?) - whatever is handling hardware acceleration isn't grabbing it back once it releases it. I'm not seeing the issue on my 7900x at work and my best guess as to why is bc it has onboard graphics that handle HW accel instead of needing to pass it off to the gpu

Interesting because I happen to be running a 7900x paired with an rtx4070s.

On prem v24 the playhead got stuck anytime the essential graphics panel was visible.
Now on prem v25, having the new "graphics templates" panel visible or the "effect controls" panel visible has a strongly negative effect on the playhead
