Adobe Premiere Pro (Beta) Visual Search and Scene Detection

New Here ,

Hello, I am unsure if visual analysis performs scene detection for my footage?

I currently import my footage into Premiere Pro and then perform scene detection to create clips which I then import to Premiere Pro (Beta) for analysis to help organise my clips. Nevertheless, I recently discovered that importing the footage directly into Premiere Pro (Beta) for visual analysis automatically creates the clips required for visual search.

(Process A)

Video > Premiere Pro > Scene Detection > Clips > Export > Clips Folder > Import to Beta > Visual Analysis

(Process B)

Video  > Import to Beta > Visual Analysis

So, I suppose my question is do I have to perform scene detection for my footage before visual analysis (A) or does visual analysis automatically perform scene detection on my footage (B) ?

thank you 🙂

Thank you for your feedback!

Visual analysis does not require scene edit detection - these can be used independent of each other. (Scene edit detection will be more frame accurate in most cases though for the use case of segmenting a given video - in this way Visual Analysis is not meant to replace Scene Edit Detection - it just happens to also create segments of similar content internally)
