Captions window goes black when clicking on content to edit

When using Premiere Pro to create captions, when clicking in to the text box to change or update content, the window goes black so you cannot see the text. This was after automatically creating captions from the video file.

See attachment for example. not sure if the box goes black, or the text does not go white.

The attached video actually makes the text stand out a bit more, but on my screen, I can't see the text at all.
