We’re excited to announce that support for the RED R3D NE raw format — used by the Nikon ZR camera — is now available in beta for Premiere Pro, as well as After Effects, Media Encoder, and Audition.
Support for R3D NE, including hardware acceleration, is available on Apple silicon systems and on Windows computers with CUDA or OpenCL support. R3D NE is not supported on Intel-based Macs.
Note: The Nikon ZR supports 32-bit float audio recording, on both external microphones and the camera's internal microphone. Premiere Pro does support 32-bit float audio files but does not correctly display audio waveforms that are above 0 dB. This means that lowering the volume on a file with clipped audio will improve the sound quality but the change will not be reflected accurately in the file's audio waveform. Audition does correctly display 32-bit float audio waveforms.
We’d love to get your feedback on this update!

Do I need to install Premiere Beta or will it work with version 25.5?

You need to install the beta. There is no problem having both the beta version and shipping version installed at the same time; they are completely separate. Here's more info: https://helpx.adobe.com/ca/x-productkb/global/creative-cloud-beta.html.

Do you know when R3D NE will be in the puplic version? I'd hate to edit a project in a beta version if i dont have to.

Beta is horrifically bad. I shot a few minutes of my dog in the backyard and downloaded beta and I have over 100 errors on first import, including sound errors lol! If this continues I'll just drop Adobe and go to resolve like everyone else...

@Joshua24288030wt18 can you provide more info on the errors you're seeing? We're not aware of any errors on import.
Thanks,
Fergus

To ensure good performance, support for both N-RAW and R3D NE on Macintosh is limited to Apple silicon models. Here is the public beta forum post on N-RAW: https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro-beta-discussions/now-in-beta-support-for-nikon-n-raw/m-p...

That's great but it's urgent to make it available in the regular version. Beta is always full of bug and can't be used for professionnal production. All the best,

I’m currently on Premiere Pro version 26.1.1 (Beta) and I still can’t import N-RAW files. I keep getting the error: “File damaged or not supported.”
This happens even though the files play correctly in supported players. Please advise if N-RAW support is expected in this version or if there’s a workaround.

@akanim58632075 N-RAW support is already available in the shipping version of Premiere. It was added in v25.6. It also is available in the beta, which (unlike v25.6) supports Nikon R3D NE.
Would you be willing to share with me an N-RAW file that is not working for you in the v26.1.1 beta? The N-RAW files I have all work fine in the beta so I would like to understand what's causing the problem you're seeing. I have sent you a DM with a link you can use to upload a file.

Fergus

I have Macbook Pro 4 Max with Apple Silicon Chipset. Adobe Premiere Pro 25.6.3 (Build 2) still does not support Nikon ZR's R3D files. It can only be supported by Adobe Premiere Beta 26.1.1 (Build 18) at the moment. We are all waiting for the solution. Thanks.

Can you please address the larger issue here asked by multiple users?
When will this move to the public version? Some companies don't allow us to use Beta/AI.

@jeffrey_9341 We don't share detailed release date information, largely because things can change right before a release that require we change what's in a release.
However, in this case, I will say that R3D NE support is coming in the next major release of Premier. We normally time major releases to events like Sundance, NAB, Adobe MAX, or IBC. Sundance is next week.

Fergus

Can you please address the elephant in the room? When will this be functional in the Public release. We're pretty close to dropping Adobe between price increases and lack of functionality for issues like this.
