Hi all,
The latest beta of Premiere Pro and Media Encoder now include support for H.264 in MKV. Our support is particularly focused on customers using MKV files from OBS (Open Broadcaster Software). We support AAC and PCM audio.
We’d love to get your feedback on this new feature.
Regards,
Fergus

If support for multiple audio tracks is not added, I'll have to take this back. MKV support without multiple tracks has no value for me.

Great! Changing the container from mkv to mp4 before importing was not hard - but i am glad to get rid of this step! Thanks!

Hi Fergus,
This is good news, I appreciate the decision of Adobe to support mkv once again.

Hi Fergus,
I have tested the PP Beta and the first thing I noticed is that it does not load multiple audio tracks, a feature that I use with OBS to separate multiple sources. Will this be included?
Thanks!

Sorry about that. In discussing with our developer it actually looks like this might be a bit of work. I've put in the request and will work with the team to determine where this might fit.

Hi Tom,
Thank for the feedback. It will be a bummer not to be able to import the tracks, as this feature is key to ensure a right audio balance and quality in post, rather than trying to nail it during production by determining when a source is needed or not at specific segments.
Looking forward to have a positive feedback.
Regards,
Mauro

I use this same workflow, recording my microphone and the desktop sound on different audio tracks. If this is not supported, the MKV support has no value for me, unfortunately.

We Export need H.264 and H.265 in the MXF container, please. It's a broadcast standard and the only good way to do embedded captions. Should not be that hard.

We currently support a wide range of MXF files including ones that used H.264 and HEVC. Is there a particular MXF format you need that is not currently available?

Wow I obviously didn't proofread my comment
Nonetheless;
- There are no HEVC MXF OP1A export options
- The bitrate is not customizable on any H.264 MXF OP1A options
Just give us the MainConcept encoders in MXF, please

I just tried dropping an mkv into my project in 25.2.0 BETA but it says not supported.

Created by what?

The MKV must be H.264 - other codecs are not supported at this time. Also please make sure you are on the latest 25.2 Beta build.
