Blackmagic Video Desktop - Monitor 3G not working on latest PP update

Explorer ,
May 06, 2025 May 06, 2025

I've just freshly reinstalled my Mac Studio M1 with Sonoma and installed Premiere along with the latest (14.5 and the previous 14.4.1) Blackmagic Drivers, and I can not get Mecury Transmit to recognise the my BM Monitor 3G device. The device is recognised in the BM Video Desktop software, but does not show up in Premiere or After Effects. I've been through and enabled security settings where needed and restarted and because the device is present in the BM software, it would indicate a problem with the current version of Premiere/After Effects. This is the first time reinstalling this machine, but it did work with this setup previously, although I did have some misc issues editing in PP which I never did get to the bottom of... hence the reinstall!

The Decklink Plugins were also missing in my Medicore folder. I went into a time machine back up and copied those files into the folder.

It's working now, no issues so far.

Thanks for the suggestions!!!

It sounds as though the BMD drivers are installed, but the BMD Transmit plugin (used by PPro and AE) is not.

What plugins do you have installed, in this directory?

/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/Plug-ins/7.0/MediaCore

[Note: That's the root /Library, not some User's ~/Library...]

Interesting... the folder was basically empty (apart from a single plugin that had it's own directory). I've copied the DeckLinkTransmit.bundle from my old Time Machine backup into the directory. It now displays in Transmit Device Playback however, whilst it'll show a single frame on the screen, it refuses to playback. Is there a better way to install the plugin?

Running the BMD installer usually does the trick. 🙂

Easier said than done... as mentioned, tried various BM Video Desktop installation verisons with no luck. Contacted BM support to see if they've any ideas...

I'm having the same issue. Been with BM customer support for days and also with Adobe. Neither can figure it out.

I've still had no response from BM. Which plugins specifically were they? I don't suppose you'd be able to share them with me? I've tried ones from my Time Machine and they didn't work properly.
