Exporting a small clip takes forever, makes no progress

Hello,
I've had the following problem. I want to export a small portion of a video i'm working on, about 30 seconds. It's footage from a documentary that I've edited and added some clips to. Nothing special. When i select the ins and outs and then go to export media, it says ''Necessary Audio Files are being rendered'', with a preview saying 1 of 31 files have been rendered and an estimated time of about 1 hour and 30 minutes (constantly changing back and forth between that and 1 hour) left to render the file. However there is no progress happening, no matter how long I wait. Not to mention, this shouldn't happen at all, just a week ago i could easily export clips longer than that without problems. I tried other footage and the same problem occurs, also when I try to export it somewhere else on a different hard drive.
Please let me know if you've had this issue and know what to do, I don't want all of this effort to go to waste.

If you render that section of the timeline before exporting, does the problem still occur? 

What has changed about your system configuration, since "just a week ago"?

Do you mean the render options when I go to the sequence menu? I've tried it now, does the same as usual. It does the prerender fine, but when I then get to export media, the same thing occurs. I've watched some videos saying it might have something to do with bitrate, something to do with the audio files since it explicitly mentions audio files but I have no clue what the issue is. I've not changed the settings, all I've done is add the new file, a 1,4 GB documentary video. There's also DVD footage in my project, that isn't highlighted at the moment though, I don't know if that might cause interferences. It can't be the highlighted sequence, because even other sequences I could render and export normally, don't work anymore. However I know that it is limited to this project, in other projects, rendering works just fine. There must be a reason why it says ''Necessary Audio Files are being rendered'', I don't exactly know what it means by that.
