Extreme Lag Issue in Premiere Pro v25 & Beta (Windows 11)

Community Beginner ,

Hello Adobe,

I'm experiencing severe performance degradation in Premiere Pro (latest stable v25 and Beta version). The problem appeared suddenly overnight without any significant changes to the project—only basic cuts were made, and no new effects or heavy elements were added.

Each interaction (selecting clips, scrubbing, cutting, playback, etc.) causes the software to freeze, showing a persistent "Not Responding" message lasting several seconds. This makes editing practically impossible.

My system specifications:

  • OS: Windows 11 Pro

  • CPU: Intel(R) Xeon(R) W-3235

  • RAM: [Please insert RAM capacity here]

  • GPU: NVIDIA RTX [Please specify model here]

Steps already attempted without success:

  • Creating proxies

  • Removing all effects

  • Clearing media cache and preview files

  • Resetting Premiere Pro preferences

  • Complete uninstallation and reinstallation (including Beta version)

This issue appeared overnight without any notable project changes aside from basic timeline cuts—no additional heavy effects or footage imports occurred.

Additionally, I've tried standard troubleshooting methods, yet the problem persists. Could you provide guidance or indicate if this is a known issue with recent Premiere Pro updates?

Thank you for your assistance.

Best regards,

Hi @sofiane0D4D
so you had zero issues with performance until last night correct? Can you tell what version of Windows 11 you are running? I would also check and be sure your GFX card is up to date with the manufacturer. Are you using a specific camera file in your projects? And have you tried to open a new project and see how performance is?
Thank you
Ian

Additionally, when I try to adjust settings within the Preferences panel, upon clicking OK to validate changes, I'm unable to exit the Preferences menu. An error message appears in the event log stating "Invalid type conversion." The only way to close Preferences is by clicking Cancel, preventing any adjustments from being saved
