Intel ARC Card support

Sooo....it's been almost a year since Adobe said they would support the ARC line of cards. Is this happening? Ever? Even Filmora and Resolve support AV1 and hardware encoding/decoding for this card. Do I have to just call it quits with Premiere since I've sold my Nvidia cards for Intel? I almost feel like this is done on purpose to keep Nvidia happy....

@Fergus H

I was building a new system from scratch so I wanted to give the new kid on the block a shot. AV1 and 16gb of VRAM was the main attraction. I also bought a few cards to see how applications utilize dual A770 cards. I've always used Nvidia cards. Not a fan of AMD due to driver issues.

My current set up

TUF GAMING Z790-PLUS WIFI D4

13th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-13700K
Intel® UHD Graphics 770
Intel® Arc™ A770 Graphics

Pinnacle 64 GB 3600 DDR4

Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus 1TB
Samsung SSD 980 1TB
Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus 1TB
Samsung SSD 980 1TB

Don't mean to beat on you personally, but having to move onto another editing program after being with Adobe for so long was an extremely frustrating learning curve.

@lvarano "So Adobe commited to be a partner a year ago, yet didn't commit to actually supporting Intel."

That’s not how we - or Intel - saw it. Unless we give specific dates, our support for new hardware is always going to be based upon prioritization of other features and the readiness of the hardware. I totally understand that you’ve chosen the Arc card (and, in fact, I just ordered a new workstation with both an Nvidia and Arc card) but so far, it’s not a card we’ve seen many customers using or requesting support for.

May I ask: what do you like about it? Why did you choose it over an Nvidia or AMD GPU? What CPU are you using it with? Sorry; lots of questions but as the product manager for this area, I’m always interested in what our customers are using!

Thanks,

Fergus

@Fergus H So Adobe commited to be a partner a year ago, yet didn't commit to actually supporting Intel. Blackmagic and Wondershare have been totally onboard since the Arc release. I've been using both since January. I've dropped Premiere after 23+ years for the lack of support for Arc cards. The driver issue hasn't been an issue for the other two vendors...

@lvarano Nvidia and Intel (and Apple and AMD and...) are both very close partners of Adobe. Our prioritization of Arc support (which was directly my decision) was based upon the quality of the Arc drivers - something that Intel has recently improved - and how rarely customers were requesting Arc support. It has nothing to do with our relationship with Nvidia.

will you plan to put the intel arc A730M graphic card into the supported graphic card list?

@Laci19830115 Support for Intel Arc is now in public beta. Our betas can be installed alongside the released versions without any issues; they are available from Creative Cloud Desktop > Beta apps.

Our friends at Puget Systems just posted an article on our newly-added Arc support; you might find it interesting reading:

I've been waiting to see when Adobe might support accelerated decoding on Intel Arc cards, too. Currently the only way for decent timeline scrubbing w/ 4k 10 bit 4:2:2 footage is with Apple or Intel integrated GPU machines, and when the decision is to buy a whole new machine vs. migrate to DaVinci Resolve the latter becomes an easy choice.

I hope so. I'd hate to leave a platform after 23 years.
